Categories are not loading

Never mind; I see what the problem is.  Nothing to do with Cheetah.

Further investigation shows that only some module's categories are not loading.  I am going to inspect the tables again.

Categories are not loading either in the frontend or the backend.  The table sys_categories exist and is populated.  I have not tried creating a new category.  Version is Cheetah 1.1.0.   No third party modules are loaded to the site.  What and where to check?
