Ñ in PHP code...

In my classifids.php I have this:

ÑEntryUri

Anyone know what Ñ is?

My classifieds are not working, you can't select a sub-category and I was just wondering if this bugger belongs there.

classifids.php, line 70:

elseif ((int)$_REQUEST['action']==2) {
$iClassifiedSubID = (int)$_REQUEST['FilterSubCat'];
//$iClassifiedSubID = ($oClassifieds->bUseFriendlyLinks) ? (int)db_value("SELECT `ID` FROM `ClassifiedsSubs` WHERE `ÑEntryUri`='" . $oClassifieds->process_html_db_input($_REQUEST['FilterCat']) . "' LIMIT 1") : (int)$_REQUEST['FilterSubCat'];

In my code this is not a commented out section, and further, there should never be a charachter like that in a php file.

My code (6.1.6)

says:

This is the proper code.  Try and re-upload the classified.php file using binary transfer mode.

elseif ((int)$_REQUEST['action']==2) {
$iClassifiedSubID = (int)$_REQUEST['FilterSubCat'];
//$iClassifiedSubID = ($oClassifieds->bUseFriendlyLinks) ? (int)db_value("SELECT `ID` FROM `ClassifiedsSubs` WHERE `ÑEntryUri`='" . $oClassifieds->process_html_db_input($_REQUEST['FilterCat']) . "' LIMIT 1") : (int)$_REQUEST['FilterSubCat'];
$sRetHtml .= $oClassifieds -> PrintSubRecords($iClassifiedSubID, TRUE);
}

It was uploaded in binary, and I don't see any difference between yours and mine...

Hi mydatery,

I have the problem with anything apperently using magic quotes. I didn't mean to start a ruckas and I did know that line was commented out, but I was just curious about that tilde thingy over the N. I have the problem with the classified section not being able to post because the sub-cat doesn't show up, the discussion boards because the start new topic freezes at the loading screen, as well as the new topic in the groups section, which is why I thought magic quotes. I added a php.ini file to the root and all the effected folders (php_flag magic_quotes_gpc Off) but that didn't work either.

It's a clean install, no mods, 6.16 on a Boonex recommended host.

My apologies to you richafarone, it was after a long day when I looked at that piece of code and although it was commented out I was preoccupied with another poster here who was harrasing one of my clients.

You should go to yoursite/admin and login. Then go to yoursite/admin/phpinfo.php and check that your local value for magic_quotes_gpc is set the way you think it is.

Also note that the proper way to turn off magic_quotes in a php.ini file is:

magic_quotes_gpc = Off

the method you showed in your post is what you would place in a .htaccess file.

Just a note to Myfakery ummm Mydatery.... you so often in these forums, waste many peoples time by posting your sarcastic and nominally helpful information.  You could not ever teach me about coding and a simple "hey take a look at what you posted" would have sufficed.  Instead you insult me, attack and threaten my clients,  and send me (and I assume many others) threatening communications.This must be why you have that whole "Self Defense Crap" in your profile description.

I didn't know that you were so important around here that you had access to others accounts to see what they have or haven't paid for.

When I look at the profiles of those who choose to whine and cry about me, what do I see? Simple, no sites to review, this means the sites are pay sites they are to embarrassed to show, no contribution to Boonex and no paying for licenses or anything else. Just a crap load of whining in the forums and blogs.

This is not a competition and most people just would like straightforward answers.

Again my apologies to the rest of this community for having just now done that for which I am now complaining.

If you kiddies are done now... I checked my phpinfo.php, don't see what is has to do with magic quotes though:

require_once( '../inc/header.inc.php' );
require_once( BX_DIRECTORY_PATH_INC . 'design.inc.php' );
require_once( BX_DIRECTORY_PATH_INC . 'admin.inc.php' );

$logged['admin'] = member_auth( 1, true, true );

phpinfo();

Ummm I guess it might be this one....

OH yeah, since you don't personally own ladiesluvladies.com the you won't mind that I've notified the comptroller to the 43 illegal songs that are sitting on it. I'm sure they'll ignore the fact that YOU built the site, enabled it to upload/download music and it's sitting on your server. What's the fine per violation of the music licensing laws again?

Keep pushing me little one... Just keep pushing and you will learn that I'm not one for you to bring your arrogance and better than thou attitude around... You got caught lieing and that is that..

By the way what did I "Lie" about... Prove your point in an open forum  that I am lying  about anything I have said or done here.

You or your friend apparently did not like one of the sites I had listed in my communities.  As a favor to one of my hosting customers, I endeavored to get them a little exposure for their site since I had an account here and they were unsure how to use Unity. I had the site ladiesluvladies.com listed on my profile, as I said, to help out a customer, nothing more.  However you or your friend didn't like the site or were just plain mean and spiteful and went to ladiesluvladies.com and posted MY Boonex profile link and inferred that there was fraud being committed on their members and that the site was owned by a 45 yr old male who must be a pervert trying to get lesbians to post pictures of themselves....  You seem to always be on your high horse and junmping to conclusions... In the mean time you have continually threatened my customer (And you KEEP INSISTING THAT I OWN THE SITE!) I am simply the host not the owner and if you wanted to bring it to my attention that ladiesluvladies.com is breaking their agreement with me as their host (See: http://zopfware.com/terms.html) you could have at any time.  If we look at your profile you seem to be from Twinsburg Ohio, Peterborough Ontario, and Now Yonkers NY...

Again, you also act as if I just suddenly popped up on the scene... as anyone can see I have been a hosting comapny for many years (going on 7 now)  and have paid my dues.... what can you say?

And I never disagreed that you were  jerk I just felt that it was improper behavior on a support site.... you have truly wasted the last of my time.

You have from what I can see helped many people out with their questions as a "newbie" but again, it was quite apparent from earlier posts and blogs that you were the newbie just a year ago.... so why don't you save your attitude for your friends and family and treat people with the respect they gave you when you first came to this site.

Enough of your drivel and threats. This is totally immature and pointless.

Yes, What Myfakery said  is true... I apologize if I did not make that clear

Additionally as I said before, you should edit the contents of your php.ini to include the magic_qoute_gpc line that I posted earlier.

This is how it should read in your php.ini

magic_quotes_gpc = Off

...Okay, your supposed to take log into your sites admin panel and type the following url into your web browser:

http://yoursite.com/admin/phpinfo.php

Okay, and check for what?

magic_quotes_gpc On On
magic_quotes_runtime Off Off
magic_quotes_sybase Off Off

And by the way guys... If you have a fight, please take it outside, okay? Go and start your own topic called, "mydatery vs ZopfWare" and have at it. In the meanwhile, please show some respect for people with questions and try not to hijack their topics, alright? It really is very childish and unbecoming any adult.

Good advice...

As you can see it says that magic_quotes_gpc is still on... make the change is suggested in my previous posts to ALL your php.ini files and then run the phpinfo.php program again and see if magic_quotes_gpc is now off

Um... I don't want to turn magic quotes off... I want to resolve the problem. This site is on a Boonex recommended host and should run out of the box. I'm going to do a reinstall and see if that works.

Thanks

I'm sorry I thought that is what you were attempting to do based on this post:

It's all pretty much the same, except my memory limit is 128mb and upload is 100mb.

Quote · 4 Aug 2009

Come to think of it I thought I had upped my memory limit as well... (Plesk upgrades sometimes reset it back to 32...Oh well)

I tested your test account and I see what you mean.  It should pop up another select box next to the primary category.  Mine does.

Just a note: I have been working on someone's Beta install and the curious thing is that The java menus in the admin section don't work right.  But when I turn off the cache option for JS and CSS it works fine.

But this could be something to do with how your server is presenting things to the browser.

Are you getting anything showing up in your apache error log?  It's handy to check the error log when you are accessing a particular page and then looking to see if apache or php are returning a warning.

Are you running php in cgi mode or as apache?  (Duh... if you have to have all those php.ini files I answered that one!)

I will take a look at the test account again using firebug to see if I see anything odd.

I opted for a clean install to another directory using WS FTP Pro instead of Filezilla and the new install works fine. I have had a few problems with Filezilla in the past with permissions not changing after I refresh the folder... I guess this was the problem.

Thanks for trying anyway!

Yes, I've had a few issues with FileZilla myself... I wasn't think about that part... I keep forgetting that usually what I do is just do a wget on the server using the download URL and then just unzip... works faster that way.

The freezing when it gets to the post topic page could be something wrong with the TinyMCE plugin. When I uploaded my .zip and unpacked it on the server I got the same issue (and this was a fresh install). After talking to some of the admins here I had a look at it with firebug which was a life saver. It turned out tinyMCE wasn't working properly (java script error). I checked all the .js files were okay and as I expected, they were fine.

The problem arose from 2 strangely named files that were left in my '/plugins/tiny_mce/' folder. It must've been left from unpacking it and they were both .tar files. I simply deleted them and the problem was fixed :) It could've been a problem when I extracted my files and the .tar files were left there by mistake.

http://www.boonex.com/trac/dolphin/browser/trunk/ is a great place to go to make sure your folders have all the right files in. Just click in and out and you'll be able to see which files go where (and which shouldn't be there)!
