00:00 issue - uploaded sounds

Why is uploading music so complicated? I upload an mp3 file and it says 00:00. I really don't get. Is there a resource for solving this problem?

Have you attempted to play the file yet? It can say 00:00 until someone actually tries to play the file for the first time. Then it will set itself to the correct time.

it could be a con setting actually, and you gotta have rms set up with your server host. I had this same issue until this morning.. so I contacted them and they assisted me.

RMS is not needed to upload music or videos. It is required for audio/video (webcam) capabilities in chat, chatroom, and  video comments though,

I believe I tried playing a file already and nothing worked. However, I will try one more time to be sure. I guess I would have to forsake sounds and video or choose some alternative ways to have members share video.

I get this with all video uploads until I play them, then it recognises the length of the vid.

Problem I got is any files/vis/sounds uploaded, show in the folder/albums but dont show in the video/sounds count etc... somewhere theyre not being registered as uploaded even though they are there and viewable!

Unfortunately, trying to play the file does not work for me along with changing PHP settings. I checked that the server settings meet and in cases exceed the Dolphin requirements. In a time when youtube clones are popping up everywhere I would have thought getting music and video to work on a website was elementary. I guess not. I have search for the solution to my dilemna and I can't find a solution.

If you used an auto installer to install dolphin on your server, you may want to check all permission settings listed in the detailed install manual for correct settings...

I had a similar problem with getting audio to play after upload from using an auto installer... when I manually installed dolphin myself, the audio and video functioned properly.

Did you set up cron jobs at installation... I found this can have an effect it as well... try setting the cron common settings to * * * * *

Don't give up... I understand it's frustrating

Mandy
