{profileNick} error

For some reason my site shows {profileNick}when I click on the profile links instead of the nickname. It does this for some log-ins and then clicks okay when I log in at other times. I am not sure what to do or what is causing it. I cleaned cache and cache public and this still occurs. Any ideas?

do you have .htaccess file on your site?

.htaccess where? In the main menu? If so, yes I do...
