Can you confirm that the .htaccess file is in the root directory of your installation? If not, you'll need to add it.

In addition to the .htaccess file  mod_rewrite needs to be enabled for your server.

The .htaccess tells mod_rewrite what URLs and how to rewrite.  If you have one with out the other you get 404 errors.

Download a copy locally, extract it and upload the .htaccess file to the root directory of your installation.

To be more precise. It is in the dolphin zip file you downloaded to install dolphin. Problem is the .htaccess file is on some operating systems such as mac osx and linux a hidden file type so make sure your os is set to view all files. It is in the zip file and must be uploaded to your server.

I also recall the .htaccess file being hidden on Windows with some versions.

ok i found it in my root directory in administrations and inside the file it says

<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>

RewriteEngine on

</IfModule>

it said off but i changed it to on

Change it back. The one in the admin directory is supposed to be that way. There is more than one .htaccess file. Do not move them around. They all have a purpose.

Look in your original dolphin zip file. Upload the one from the root of the zip file to the root of your site. It is much larger than 3 lines.

Undo your changes and upload a new one to the root directory of your installation. That's the wrong one and was set to that for a reason.

Ask Bluehost if they have mod_rewrite loaded in Apache.

I can believe it. See it happen all the time. Dolphin has very specific host requirements that have to be met.

In this case now that the .htaccess file is there and is the correct one you now must verify with your host that mod_rewrite is enable on the server. It is now a hosting issue.

There is one more thing you can try which sometimes works on some hosts.

Edit the .htaccess file and directly under

RewriteEngine on

add

RewriteBase /

If that does not work. Then yea. It's up to the host to correct the problem.

I've never really understood any legitimate reason for Bluehost to also operate under Hostmonster. If you want, message me your cPanel access credentials and I'll see what I can do. No fee needed.

The issue is now resolved. It was due to the uploading of an incomplete .htaccess file, which was corrected by uploading a complete one.
