7.0.7 SMTP mailer

Does this still use the Dolphin internal mail application, but link up to external SMTP?

Ive just upgraded a site where for some reason, the internal Mass mailer tool will just not work...

It says messages are being sent out, but noone ever gets them, not even in spam.

I thought the SMTP mailer would sort this, the test email on the mods settings works, but thats just for one mail.

Am I still supposed to use the normal mass mailer to access emailing all members? But this then links up to SMTP settings?

If so, then it still doesnt work for me!

Not sure what is preventing this site sending out mass mails, seems to be something broken in the dolphin mail system on the site itself.

Is there another way to send mass mails???

The mass email program has never worked .... and has a bad reputation of sending the queue over and over  and spamming members. You also have no way of reporting if the queue has processed, or any tracking.

I use PHPLIST in a subdomain, and it does work well as far as control, contact lists, import, management, and more. THe only pain is running a SQL statement to extract the list and improting it in once in a while.. but it is pretty easy compared to sweating out Dolphin Mass Mailer.

The SMTP addition just uses your smtp settings instead of the phpmail functionality.  Not an improvement, just another way of building a road where your broken car (massmailer) cannot go.

PHPLIST is a separate program which is nothing but a mailing list manager. It can be found at PHPLIST.com
