A damn serious dilemma!!

Dear Boonex community, I’m facing a very big dilemma which is keeping me sleepless.

I've recently started building a community website which I hope to evolve into a decent business in the near future.
But after a couple of months spent in shaping the platform I keep facing any kind of problems. Although I’m practically the only user and I’ve made a new automatic installation on a server hosting suggested by Boonex.
For example I can’t activate the Forum and Blogs. Which are basic functions. Despites my Forum posts I have still not found a viable solution to this issue.

Some people offered help obviously in exchange for money. Fair enough.... but if I have to pay for every issue I'll face, I’ll go bankrupt before the website will even be online.

My conclusion is that despites D7 it’s advertised as an user-friendly community software packed with fancy functions, in reality it’s an unfinished piece of buggy software.  Which is almost impossible to shape to your need unless not being a pretty much experienced developer or programmer. Which I’m not.

Also I did read quite some horror forum posts on the stability of the system which apparently is not strong enough to sustain a considerable amount of traffic. This looks like a nightmare to me...!

Now let me say that despite my rant I still love many of the functionalities offered by D7.

But I’m facing now a serious dilemma: is this platform worth to invest in, if you want to go serious in building a REAL community/business?
What’s your opinion or experience?

Please let it out…..!

It would appear that some of your pages are coming up with the classic "Profile not available for view" problem, which is usually due to incorrect permission settings.

I suggest you try changing your permission settings around. Try ensuring all directories are at 755 and files are at 644. If you need help with this, send me a message.

Just an update to anyone reading this:

I've contacted AlexGruppo and with permission, accessed the server in question and investigated the cause of the issue. The cause was due to a mixture of improper configuration of the server, and permission of files and directories. I've changed the configuration settings as needed, and I have repaired the permissions for all files and directories. I also added the needed cron job, as this was also missing from the installation.

Everything is now working properly, and I have also given my personal email for further contact if any more issues arise.

Regards,

Magnussoft

Thumbs up for Magnussoft,

He has been exremely helpful. Thanks you soo much for that.

He solved a problem were I have been stuck for the last 2 months (the begin of my journey here). Thanks to people like him I kept going on D7 which has been driving me mental on several occasions.

D7 may not be perfect and there is a lot of room for improvements. But there is a strong and professional community behind it and that is probably the strongest side for the entire Boonex product range.

By the way many thanks to all the other people who have helped me so far and kept me going!

Wish you all a beautiful day!

A note to everyone else that is having struggles with Dolphin.  There are many people here that help others for free by answering technical questions.  If you are having issues, don't hesitate to post your problems if you can't figure it out yourself and its not already in the forums after you do a search or if the post you do find don't help.  Don't wait several months stressing yourself out.  You may get the answer that fixes your issues the very same day.  It will also help others when they have similar issues when they search the forums and come across your post.  It is very helpful to give your issue a title and to post that title in the subject of your thread.  That helps others seeking assistance to find answers to their issues twice as fast.  Cheers!

Good point of jctwebsites,
I may add the following which I believe it's pretty relevant.

Most of my issues were caused by a wrong server configuration (which Magnussoft has been able to solve for me).
For the records as I was looking for a server solution which would comply will all D7 requirements (with the intention of avoiding problems), I've signed up with Certified Hosting which is one of the hosting services suggested by Boonex itself.

So I did opt for the "1click installation" taking for granted that would have been fine. Well apparently was not.
So be careful when you choose "1 click installations" even when they are from hosting solutions suggested by Boonex.
