 POF has this simple but great feature. It allows members to send a message right there on their page. I realize how dumb that sounded. But im not talking about a link to open another window or to go to another page. You simply click inside the box and type! while still on their profile page! I can see a lot more people being tempted to drup up conversations because of this. Do we have "ANYTHING" like it for Dolphin?? |

This is actually a part a bigger consideration - Contextual Chat or Local Chat, if you will. Something I'm trying to design for a while now for Dolphin. The idea comes from observations that comments are too static, separate chat is unrelated to a topic at hand, and IM is always 1on1 without tie-in to a subject. It might be more effective and engaging to try and provide a chat-like conversation space for a piece of news, a blog post, a new shared photo, etc. Something that closely mimics actual discussion of content in focus. UI for such chat, once learned by users, would work nicely for personal communication, too. Just brainstorming at this stage. Heart Head Hands |
Interesting. I do know that my users wanted a rich guestbook ( profile comments); that they could post text, images, videos, etc. on their friend's pages.. If I was to remove the guestbook from member's profile I would catch hell. What is really needed is an open forum where Boonex can come in and talk with real users of social networking to get a feel for what are the areas that the users feel are important.
