I have yet to see one that I like. Does anyone have a lead on a truly great photo gallery that's D7 ready?

LOL. At the very least, has anyone Ajax'd the slide show so the entire page does not have to be reloaded to show each image? http://towtalk.net ... Hosted by Zarconia.net! |

Does anyone have a lead on a truly great photo gallery that's D7 ready? http://www.getglobalexposure.com/mycommunity/m/groups/view/Oil-Spill As smart as you guys are this could be incorporated into the database to feed this player which is feed by a xml file.........YOU COULD DO IT AND ALL WOULD BENEFIT.......It plays movies as well...... How did YOU do this? I'm no code wizard and would really like to know. It looks great. Would love a MySpace style mp3 player incorporated into D7 too. Someday, Someway. |
Would love a MySpace style mp3 player incorporated into D7 too. This was included in Dolphin 6.1, and was a wonderful feature, at that. You could upload music specifically to the profile player instead of the general audio library. It was replaced by the less-than-stellar profile sounds feature. RE: LOL. At the very least, has anyone Ajax'd the slide show so the entire page does not have to be reloaded to show each image? I used to think that would be cool, but not anymore. If you use ajax to refresh content, every photo page has the same url. Not good for search engines. My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees. |
How about this: I using here different views: plus each photo have own page, good for SEO too |

If you use ajax to refresh content, every photo page has the same url. Not good for search engines. Not if you provide index-able links to the content directly - such as a sitemap. When People are searching for an image - they want to see the image - they are not interested in the image as part of a slide-show / image display /etc... I think using ajax to handle image loads is an excellent way of handling a slide show - it would make it a lot faster than the traditional way of doing it. I'm sure that there are others out there already doing this - but it is something that I already considered for my own CMS. /DM Dolphin - Ajax Masturbation |

How about this: I using here different views: plus each photo have own page, good for SEO too Ya see? Now this has some possibilities. I like the Book the best. A simple layout and very easy to cruise through multiple pics without getting lost. How do you think it would do with a very LARGE selection of images, say 7000 to 10,000? http://towtalk.net ... This is not practic to keep thousands photos in one album, 25-50 enough. Members will tiring to view so huge album :) |
Good album. I can see a use for that for one of my projects. How about this: I using here different views: plus each photo have own page, good for SEO too |

Google Slideshow pro........As I am not a coder either and as far as the Search engines go they are suppose to be almost done with the google crawler for flash content........I have read but it seems to never get done several articals about it.........I am after a certain look and I can feed the site map......for the crawlers........IF I want to hadle A HUGE amount of data Ive got the place to do it.......It also plays video and pictures without buffering either one on several different connections so my end user gets a better experience my stuff is more about presentation than about being found through a picture search........ I disagree. At least in my situation. My site is not a dating site, my photos are all towing related and I have many years of images from thousands of members doing accident recovery and all sorts of other towing related adventures from all over the world. The images can actually be a cronology of my industry and the changes that have occured to it as the years have passed. maybe not that exciting to all of you but very cool stuff for me and my friends. There is nothing more interesting to a tow truck driver/recovery operator than to look at how other towers solved specific recovery problems. They will sit there for hours and sift through different stories and photos. I need a reasonable way to make them presentable and viewable. All the flash in the world isn't going to help if it consumes resources or gets bogged down after a few hundred phtoos have been opened or sorted through. Fast, efficient, easily understood and nicely displayed is what I'm looking for. Is it possible? http://towtalk.net ... Hosted by Zarconia.net! |
Yes, in this case better to create own unique view. As example combine current album view (where will thousands of photos with pagination) with http://www.script-tutorials.com/jquery-css-tutorial-zooming-image/ :) I hope it will well for your website. I would love to see a page that lists just the albums as a single thumb image, slightly larger than normal so you can see the content of the photo a little better, maybe 140px wide maintaining aspect (not 4 images, just use the first image in the album) with the members username directly below it. Maybe 4 high and sliding back and forth (sort of like cooliris) with no limts on how many albums can be added. A single click on any album opens it in your book layout with individual thumbs to the left and the viewer to the right. A title and description field as well as vote & share button below the opened image would give it a finishing touch. No need for comments. Also, being a photographer of sorts, I really HATE pixelated thumbs. The thumbs should be created using a resampling of the image and not just a resize... (I am fully aware that resampling takes more resources) For me, this would be the best of both worlds and I would be willing to pay for the mod. http://towtalk.net ... Hosted by Zarconia.net! |
