Add Music - Where Are The Artist Name Fields ?

Since I am new to actually using Dolphin ( I have tested it years before, but never actually wanted to use it) I am currently trying out the AUDIO (Was called Sounds but I renamed it to something more appropriate) section - yet when I upload an audio track I get the following:

TITLE:

TAGS:

DESCRIPTION:

So my question is like where is the ARTIST NAME field, TRACK TITLE field, and MUSIC GENRE field? or perhaps my version (the latest) is damaged in some way and missing fields?

Thanks Reggie - I was wondering because "My Favorites" is totally invisible and I thought that perhaps the Audio/Sounds fields were also being invisible... hmmm

Yes - here in 2012 I believe it is important to add those fields - not only because the creator/artist can be credited but also because it adds value to your SEO - More Information = More SEO credits with the search engines.

Big shame that those fields are not included - so lets see, I am going to try and give this a go with the following example for ALL uploaded files:

Please let me know anyone interested and please let me know if I am forgetting any additional fields that really should be included

A reply to my own post, but because I cannot edit my previous post

I have encountered a huge problem that literally seals the fate for Dolphin

TITLE/TRACK/NAME:

PURCHASE: Y / N

Above is what the ideal user "input form" would look like for all media being uploaded - however to include a Download / Purchase Button (there currently are none) that can be "managed" by a user and overridden by an Admin would require a major rewrite of many modules and database tables/fields...

This then kinda ends Dolphin for me - to put these matters into a nutshell that perhaps the developers can take into I have listed the following.....

The days of simply uploading 1000's media files without any attempt to inform who the owners are / copyright details/ etc. have long since gone - here in 2012 those details should be included - it's good for your web site, it's good for SEO and it's good for the owners of the material being uploaded. Seeing that the coding for Dolphin is pretty much from the year 2007 I would conclude that Dolphin is out of date.

Dolphin also changes the names of your uploaded material to simple numbers - this also is an out of date practice. Having carefully typed into all my media files artist name, title, etc to have that "erased" is plain annoying at best - and trying to locate files by number instead of name on a remote server where there may be 1000's media files all stuffed into the same folder makes for a management nightmare.

Certain other scripts maintain the media original file name/title at all times (although this can be edited) in their relevant folders - and that is how it should be done.

To have my users download audio/video files titled with just a number would be unprofessional and means that the user would also have to retype every file name again which is just plain stupid. If you had to try and identify and then retype every name on a downloaded "Sound Pack" containing 3,000 audio files you would be pretty pissed off also. As a media shop / product shop / media community / etc. Dolphin is just not there - the incorporation of a BUY CART is great but since there is no manageable download button just how are people supposed to get their purchases?.

As mentioned on my other posts, your media should go into CATEGORIES with SUB CATEGORIES, yet Dolphin totally ignores that, which also probably stems from the fact that Dolphins coding comes from the years when internet media was a new phenomena and people did not have the 1000's of media files that they generally have here in 2012 - once again, I find Dolphins current structure of albums out of date/out of touch with the way people search, find, use media

While I like Dolphin, and it's general idea, I cannot see how to use it for anything other than Dating (which is what it was originally designed for)

I wish Dolphin good luck for the future and hope that the developers can learn from other script examples out there how to manage "media" better and more relevantly for 2012 and onwards. Thanks to all
