Adding a Dependent sub category

hi there,

i am looking to create a dependent sub category for files and videos.

for example for the school have:

Course name: Physics

Levels: Grade 1, 2, 3, etc.

i know there is a module for the join page, but how can i have a dependent category.

I also needed to be shown on a search page as well. (advance search, and be able to select the grades)

could someone please help ?
