Admin Login

Okay, I have the new D7 installed...how the hell do I get into the Admin Panel?  If you can give me a link....that would help out alot!!!

You can get to the d7 admin 2 ways. One is to use the back door.

http://www.yoursite.com/administration/

Use the back door when you need to enter your license key.


You can also log in from the front door. http://www.yoursite.com. Log in as if you were a normal user.

Unlike D6, D7 admins can log into the site. While logged in as a normal user, there will be a icon on the bottom facebook like menu that will take you to the admin panel.

I did that...and now I can't remember my freakin login information....aaaarrrggghhh!

Two options:

a) forgotten password feature

b) create a new administration account

Choose wisely, you're options are more limited than at first glance.

For those interested in trying this.

From phpmyadmin

Find the Profiles table.

Locate your admin account.

Set the salt field to 1QFWCAPZO

Set password field to b475dce058425da48a346521139665bfc2e35b89

Delete all the user*.php files from the cache folder.


Now log in to your admin account using the password of dolphin.

Ah, yes, the old "create a new account/change the password with/to a password that is easy to remember, so you may access your currently locked account, since you apparently can't remember one of the most important passwords of your life" routine.

okay...I got it installed and am able to access the admin panel....but for some reason, when the profile is created on the site, when you click on a profile, you get a 404 error message.

Why does this happen, and how can I correct it?

It would mean most likely one of the following:

a) your .htaccess file is missing

b) you do not have mod_rewrite enabled on your Apache installation

c) you do not have Apache

Apache?  I'm runnin a Linux through "networksolutions.com".....how do I install Apache?

I'm willing to be that since you were able to install that you do have Apache already installed.  You might not, but I'm thinking you do already since that's what makes your Linux box a server more or less.

Check to make sure the .htaccess file has been uploaded to the dolphin root first.

Then check to make sure you have mod_rewrite enabled in your php.ini settings in the servers root.

Are you running a Dedicated Server here?

MyDatery...you've looked at my site before...been awhile, but you've been there...the .htaccess file is there in the root (they call the root "htdocs" at networksolutions)....

I've been trying to figure this crap out since last July...and it's confusing as hell for the novice....or the morons, in my case.

I just went to the cgi.bin directory and changed the php.ini files to read rw in all the cmod.....and saved it....still not being able to access the profiles of the members...there's only 3 there for test purposes......

Any suggestions?  HEEEELLLLPPP!

A wise man once told me: in many cases, default Apache installations have mod_rewrite disabled.
