Admin Login issue on new install

After studying several social scripts I chose to go with dolphin. Yes I am new here and to dolphin. So purchased a domain, then purchased hosting through one of Boonex suggested hosting companies. The one I chose to go with seemed to fit everything I needed. One of the main selling points for this host is that they are very familiar with the dolphin software and offer to do the initial install as well as install any and all addon's in the future. So I wanted to take advantage of their free service and asked them to install dolphin on my new site, figuring I would get a glitch free install done by professionals. So they installed it, I was impressed with how quickly they responded and completed the task (15 - 20 mins). Then they sent me the details, admin login and password and such. First thing I did was go to my url and yep, there it was, dolphin community. I clicked around and everything worked fine. So far so good. Next I go to the admin login page and enter the username & password they passed on to me. It comes back, username and/or password is incorrect. I tried several times just making sure that I was entering everything right. Same results. So begins the e-mails with the tech dept. to see what could be wrong. Each time they responded in a timely and professional manner. They told me several times that they could login just fine to my admin page and after about the 6th mail snapped a screen shot of their successful login. But yet I still can't login to the admin page. I asked them to go in and change the password and we could try it again. Still can't get in with new password. So then I asked them if they would just do a totally new, fresh install, thinking maybe something got corrupted on first install. Again the did so in a very timely manner & sent me the new username and password. Still can't login to admin page. That is what brings me here. I know that this forum is loaded with highly skilled programmers that are experts with the dolphin script. I am not a programmer but I am not a total stranger to web sites, have done a few. I do plan to eventually purchase license as I proceed with development. Sorry to be long winded about this, but figured being long winded would be better than not explaining everything. So obviously the question is, what in the world could be wrong with this situation? If anyone would be willing to help out with this it would be much appreciated. Frankly I am stumped, but as I said I am no programmer. Thank you in advance for any and all assistance.

I can think of only a couple of posibilities as they have verified they can logon.

1) Make sure your entering the password exactly as provided. Make sure your caps lock is not on. Case sensitivity on passwords.

2) DNS blacklists enabled and blocking you for some reason. Have them go into admin and make sure all the filters in the Antispam tools are disabled.

3) Try a different web browser. Perhaps you have a cookie problem with your current browser.

Thank you for your response. I have tried caps on off one. Just to make sure I copied/pasted. I did try different browsers. Firefox, IE, Chrome and cleared cookies as well. Still nothing. I will have them look into your #2 suggestion. That might be it. I will post back to let you and all know if that solves the problem.

Thanks again

Another way to verifiy if your getting blocked, go to the main page of the site and signup like a regular user and see if it sucessfully creates an account for you.

I was able to create a new membership profile, but could still not login to admin panel. I passed on your suggestion to the host techs. They sent back a suggestion they wanted me to try. They gave me a link to a site called hidemyass and wanted me to try to log into admin panel through their proxy. I was able to log in to admin through their proxy which I would assume hides my ip. So your thought that I was being blocked turned out to be right. After getting in to admin I looked in IP Blocks. It is totally empty. Then I checked antispam DNS blocklist. There are 4 in there but they seem to be there by default, just known bad guys I would guess. I don't see my ip # or anything related to me anywhere so far. I changed the password for admin and tried logging in outside the hidemyass proxy. Still tells me username or password incorrect. Being the first time inside the admin panel I am kind of stumbling around in there like a drunken sailor. But at least I am in and can hopefully find what is blocking me. The antispam filters are currently disabled. Still doesn't help. If you or anybody else has any other suggestions on what to look for now that I am in it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your help.

If he's able to make an account, he's not DNS or IP blocked. It has to be an issue with his password or username. What Host are you using?

Oh wait, I bet I know what it is.

What is your admin username?

My admin user name is admin. I have changed the password since the install. Host is TMD. Tried to send you a message but wouldn't let me until I upgrade my account. Not ready to do that yet as I haven't even been able to get the program off the ground yet. Is there a way to change the admin login user name? At this point any and all suggestions and/or help would be appreciated. Thank you.

login to your cpanel on TMD

phpmyadmin

Profiles Table

Edit the username you created

and Change Role = 1 to Role = 3

but if you were able to login with using the proxy hidemyass, the issue is not a login, the issue is related to your local network or ISP.

Just a follow up to the issue that I had and posted for assistance in resolving. After looking into this issue with a microscope it turns out that the problem is with my hosting provider. After looking into everything, and I do mean EVERYTHING, it would only be fair to make sure that I followed up my original posts to say that the problem is not and never was with the Dolphin software.

On a side note:

Massive Thank you's go out to DosDawg! Anyone that is having a problem or issue that you are trying to work through My advice is this!
