Advice for Newbies ... MAJOR KUDOS for mscott ... !!!

Actually, two topics in one. First just some well meant advice to those considering going with Dolphin community software. This advice is based on my own experiences during the past couple of years, dealing with something far more complex and time consuming than I ever anticipated. The things they don't tell you about in the promotional stuff about Dolphin. So if you're not already pretty knowledegable in *ALL* of the following ... php, sql databases, cron jobs, media streaming, site management, spam prevention, server management, plus actual comprehension of server/site requirements for Dolphin Community software ... then you might as well move on, or be prepared to spend a lot of time learning, and even shelling out some real cash for helpful services by others.
Really know what you're getting into, before getting into it ...

Dolphin is *NOT* for someone who thinks they can jump into their own quick community with little knowledge about the above mentioned. I'm saying this because I've created and hosted websites for years, but Dolphin is so complex and all-encompassing that it really turns into a big-time job just to manage all that's involved. No other website (dozens) has ever taken up as much of my time as Dolphin. If you don't have some serious knowledge about the above, lots and lots of time, and the ability to spend some money for help ... STAY AWAY FROM DOLPHIN ... or you may end up becoming involved in something that you'll learn to hate or regret later on! Just some friendly, well intended advice.

But if you are requiring some help with your Dolphin project ...

I would highly, and I do mean very highly recommend contacting Boonex member mscott for assistance! In the past 12 months or so I haven't spent a lot of time here because every time that I've asked for help, even offering to pay, the response has been little to none at all. There's nothing worse in the world than owning paid for, complex, licensed softare with little to no help at all. The Boonex/Dolphin site is one of the worst places that I've seen in my life, to come for help. Until now that is ....

Boonex member mscott is simply amazing, there's just no other way to put it. First of all, for little fish without a big budget, the price for help is actually (IMO) beyond reasonable. I don't think you'll find better rates anywhere and if mscott can't do something you'll be made aware of it, as opposed to paying someone for some "hopeful" solutions. Secondly, mscott speaks "human english" without filling your head with so much tech-crap that everything seems overwhelming. Thirdly, mscott did more than asked voluntarily. I was totally surprised by the (excessive) friendliness & helpfulness. Fourth, communication ... mscott never left me hanging. That's very important because this happens here a lot ... you ask a question ... someone answers vaguely or technically way overboard ... and then you never hear from them again. But with mscott every question had a response, and if something was unclear mscott would ask additional questions in a way that a person with limited knowledge could actually relate to. Fifth, it's the best support that I've ever received for anything in my life, no kidding. In my opinion mscott is the definition of what good support is all about. So again, if you need any help with your Boonex/Dolphin project, I'd suggest contacting mscott first, to see where that will take you.
Thanks a million mscott. Thanks to you all of our D7 site issues have been resolved once and for all.

@ meinecommunity I was going to respond to the "Dolphin is pure crap thread" but I guess my response was too long and got deleted. Not sure. I see it's not even necessary as you clearly state the TRUTH about Dolphin in this thread:

"The things they don't tell you about in the promotional stuff about Dolphin. Really know what you're getting into, before getting into it ..."

I couldn't have said it any better. I have been stuck with Dolphin for over a year now and because of the how much time and money I have already invested just haven't dropped it yet. But what good is having a Dolphin powered site when you can't stand visiting your own site just because it is so un-user friendly?

I fell for those slick promos (feel conned now). I am truly sick of the Dolphin elitist (the so called ones who know the most about Dolphin) blaming the end user in these forums. This is the worst place I have ever been to trying to get help for anything and am sick of reading thread after thread of the same people blowing hot air. I am just like u meinecommunity in that my experience with software dates back to the 90's (actually to the 80's), am no newbie by anyone's definition. I earned my living for 2 decades providing technical support for tons of software and also hardware. However, I am no programmer. That doesn't make me stupid that I don't know programming either. However, I sure do leave these Dolphin forums feeling that way.

I am tired of the issues I struggle with related to my Dolphin powered website. I am getting no enjoyment out of the over 700 members I have worked hard to gain and join my site because Dolphin is just awkward to use. I will be taking your advice and consult with mscott as I am sick and tired of struggling with the numerous issues related to my Dolphin site

I have NEVER in 20 years had to deal with the problems I have encountered with this forum AND with the Dolphin core product. It ridiculous and outrageous! IMAO, the only dreams Dolphin is making come true is "mod developers" as I'm sure Dolphin gives u plenty to keep ur pockets growing, while the rest of us are just suckers at ur mercy playing "mod roulette". Give me a break, KEEP IT REAL DOLPHIN!
