Actually, two topics in one. First just some well meant advice to those considering going with Dolphin community software. This advice is based on my own experiences during the past couple of years, dealing with something far more complex and time consuming than I ever anticipated. The things they don't tell you about in the promotional stuff about Dolphin. So if you're not already pretty knowledegable in *ALL* of the following ... php, sql databases, cron jobs, media streaming, site management, spam prevention, server management, plus actual comprehension of server/site requirements for Dolphin Community software ... then you might as well move on, or be prepared to spend a lot of time learning, and even shelling out some real cash for helpful services by others.
Really know what you're getting into, before getting into it ...
Dolphin is *NOT* for someone who thinks they can jump into their own quick community with little knowledge about the above mentioned. I'm saying this because I've created and hosted websites for years, but Dolphin is so complex and all-encompassing that it really turns into a big-time job just to manage all that's involved. No other website (dozens) has ever taken up as much of my time as Dolphin. If you don't have some serious knowledge about the above, lots and lots of time, and the ability to spend some money for help ... STAY AWAY FROM DOLPHIN ... or you may end up becoming involved in something that you'll learn to hate or regret later on! Just some friendly, well intended advice.
But if you are requiring some help with your Dolphin project ...
I would highly, and I do mean very highly recommend contacting Boonex member mscott for assistance! In the past 12 months or so I haven't spent a lot of time here because every time that I've asked for help, even offering to pay, the response has been little to none at all. There's nothing worse in the world than owning paid for, complex, licensed softare with little to no help at all. The Boonex/Dolphin site is one of the worst places that I've seen in my life, to come for help. Until now that is ....
Boonex member mscott is simply amazing, there's just no other way to put it. First of all, for little fish without a big budget, the price for help is actually (IMO) beyond reasonable. I don't think you'll find better rates anywhere and if mscott can't do something you'll be made aware of it, as opposed to paying someone for some "hopeful" solutions. Secondly, mscott speaks "human english" without filling your head with so much tech-crap that everything seems overwhelming. Thirdly, mscott did more than asked voluntarily. I was totally surprised by the (excessive) friendliness & helpfulness. Fourth, communication ... mscott never left me hanging. That's very important because this happens here a lot ... you ask a question ... someone answers vaguely or technically way overboard ... and then you never hear from them again. But with mscott every question had a response, and if something was unclear mscott would ask additional questions in a way that a person with limited knowledge could actually relate to. Fifth, it's the best support that I've ever received for anything in my life, no kidding. In my opinion mscott is the definition of what good support is all about. So again, if you need any help with your Boonex/Dolphin project, I'd suggest contacting mscott first, to see where that will take you.
Thanks a million mscott. Thanks to you all of our D7 site issues have been resolved once and for all.
