Again - Dolphin cannot work in safe mode

Hello

I am new to Dolphin. cron reports that "Dolphin cannot work in safe mode" but it IS NOT in safe mode - phpinfo reports that PHP is not in safe mode and I have also set .htaccess to switch safe mode off in the dolphin directory.

Any thoughts?

Thank you

Andrew

Ask your host to disable safe mode from their end.  I had this same problem for a day or two.  The site would not load, and a little message saying "Dolphin cannot run in safe mode".<br><br>

I also have the option to switch between "safe mode" on and off from my control panel.  However, I wrote to my hosting provider, explained my trouble, and they wrote back saying that had made a change.  Then, my site has worked with no problems since.<br><br>

Ask your host to check the Safe Mode settings.

Thanks very much for your response Sheer

I actually have a dedicated server with root access - and I am able to modify my own php.ini AND (as in your case) have a control panel PLUS the ability to control the site through .htaccess. All of these are set to remove safe mode and report that safe mode is NOT on (phpinfo does too). Hence this posting. As far as I can tell, everything has been done to ensure php is not running in safe mode :-(

Very strange - I must be missing something...

I have the same problem and I also have access to the root.  I don't know if I am missing something or losing something (my mind).

What cron are you trying to run ??

I think I have found a solution (though I have no ligical explanation for it, i.e. for the lack of symptoms).

On MY system, I have the following php.ini files

/etc/php5/cli/php.ini
/etc/php5/apache2/php.ini
/etc/php5/cgi/php.ini

and

/opt/php52/etc/php5/cli/php.ini
/opt/php52/etc/php5/cgi/php.ini

I believe that safe mode was set to ON in one of the cgi/php.ini (I think /etc/php5/cgi/php.ini - but cannot remember).

I set it to off and re-booted. Now I get no error messages and just get occasional reports (which appear to work correctly).

Why this is so, I have no idea.

I am running the latest version of Ubuntu on a dedicated server with Plesk 8.6 control panel.

I was not aware (nor had any reason to enquire about it) that Dolphin was linked to CGI or maybe it is a setup issue on my system.

i must confess that I too went nuts trying to figure it out as the diagnostics indicated that all was in order.

Hope this helps

I needed to edit php.ini under /etc for safemode to be off. Then the cron jobs ran fine. Even though for the domain I had safe mode off. This was via SSH/puty. I am on Plesk and GoDaddy.

Happiness is a warm gun.
