Anyone experiencing slowdown with high traffic site or have advice?

I was planning to use dolphin 7 for a dating site. I hopefully can forsee traffic around 10,000+ hits per month, maybe more. Is there a rule of thumb limit, or has anyone used 7.0 for a high user base with high traffic on a daily basis and had bad slowdown? BTW, I plan on using a VPS through Hostgater and the specs are: CPU 1.98 GHZ RAM 1344 MB Disk Space 59 GB

I'm currently at about 16,000  hits per month, and everything so far is fine, knock on wood

@Ron; are you on a VPS or Dedicated?

This is excellent to know about you getting so many hits, gives the rest of us hope. Do you have custom modules or just the standard modules and do you have someone tweak it for you, or are you using all standard setup options?

Thanks

Hit are not the same as "unique visitors"

hits can be from you, search engines and bots...

look at your "Awstats" and look for that term in your stats.

16,000 Hits are a lot of hits, well you alone may not doing them all. The bots visit say once a day, the search engines once a day. So lets give say 5000 hits for these, you still have 11,000 hits. Pretty decent
