Are animated gifs possible?

We are trying to create somewhat of a marketing hub, and marketers love animated banners. However they can't uploaded animated banners to the site because they are converted to png's and only the first frame is displayed.

I have found a plugin that will allow for animated gifs as avatars, but nothing for allowing users to upload animated gifs as photo's to timelines, photo albms, etc. Is this possible? Any plugins or mods that exist that would allow for this? Anyone got something in the works?

I'll take the lack of replies as a no.

For photos, the original is uploaded and one can then link to the original.  The reason that the smaller images are not animated is that they are converted to jpgs.  I keep meaning on working on making changes but just too busy.  Dolphin should allow uploads of png, gif, and jpegs and allow them to be resized and stored as their original format.  Those formats can be displayed in browsers without issues.

Looks like there are plans in a future release to add GIF capability to the default Boonex.  Not sure if it will get you what you want, but figured I'd share in case you haven't seen this.

You are misunderstanding the purpose of the ticket:

"Allow admin to select supported media types uploads and file size limits vie unified interface."

the key words are "unified interface"

One can upload a gif image now but the image is converted to jpg for the normal display.  The original image is stored in the original format.

This is either not correct, or not whats happening in my installation of 7.2

I upload a gif.
I save the gif
It is converted to a png.
I view the file, only the first frame of the animation is displayed
I view original file, I am sent to a page similar to:
~/m/photos/get_image/original/89111f7554a487c791bd4c9c9d5a27eb.png
This is clearly NOT the original, as its a png, and the file name is obviously not the original either....

Am I missing something?

There is browser resizing in Dolphin 7.2, which isn't support animated GIFs, if you use regular uploader, it should work fine, to enable regular uploader go to Admin Panel > Modules > Photos >  Settings > Available Uploaders > tick "regular" then save the form

I view original file, I am sent to a page similar to:
~/m/photos/get_image/original/89111f7554a487c791bd4c9c9d5a27eb.png
