Are you still building with 7.0.9 or waiting for 7.1 ?

So, who's holding off new builds for 7.1 or are you still building new sites with 7.0.9!?

I've got a few sites 'on hold' for the new release... could crack on with them now but seems a little pointless with the uncertainty of what mods and templates will still be functional etc....

Templates will be a issue. I intend to have all of my modules ready for 7.1

I do not think the modules will be much of a problem. So far i have only seen a couple of rather simple fixes i will need to make to my modules for 7.1

Both, lol

as you see my demo is 7.1, so the day of release that site will be live again with 7.1 ready to go on it.

It's hard holding off on the 7.0.9 sites, I'm still do updates to 7.0.9

Existing site: keeping it afloat however I can with 7.0.9 and praying to gods I don't believe in that 7.1 will fix issues that have been unfixable up until now. However, I'll do a bunch of trial and error before migrating my live site to the new software. Or pay someone who I can then blame if it all goes horribly wrong!! hahaha

Planned site: holding off for 7.1. I figure I can do double duty and see if 7.1 is worth another upgrade of existing site, as well as seeing if it works for the new site with or if I'm going with my alternate software choice.

annoying thing is, my 'main' site build which has  been underway for 'quite some time' has had a bunch of customised work done to it... odds are it will mostly need to be re-done to work with 7.1... knowing my luck anyway!

Im keen to get my hands on it though (7.1) - give it a proper test drive.

Templates will be interesting, would be nice to see some new templates working on the new layout...

Personally, I like the default 7.1 template, would be nice to see it in black!

well not being a template creator, changes for the inexperienced user should be rather easy..

changing the background of the of the site is done now with sys-bg-main.png image in the templates/base/images

along with the menu header background as well, sys-bg-top-menu.png and more items easily changed.

Another very nice change to me is the ability to control our sites promo banner!

Visibility options now for the main promo banner,

  • disable
  • show on homepage
  • show on all pages
  • and hide for logged in users

there are so many differences, we could go on for quite some time. Cool

I dont think there is any way in hell my main site is going to work with 7.01, but I am happy with it on 7.09. There is simply just too much custom work on there to considder having it done again.

I too have new builds in the pipeline, but am holding back for 7.01 and a bit longer before i start. It will be interesting to see what problems arise with 7.01, and I will wait for some of them to be ironed out first.... Can't wait to start building though.

I'm currently using 7.0.9 and my site is working reasonably well. I have made some modifications to my site which will all have to be redone with 7.1 but it should mostly be template work (I say that with fingers crossed and holding my breath at the same time).

In my experience, it is best to keep up with the latest software releases otherwise you risk falling so far behind that it may be too difficult to catch up. It nearly happened to me once. Have seen it happen to others. It stems from the fear of upgrading when you have a reasonably stable site already.

So yes I will move my site to 7.1 after I know there are no major bugs and done some testing with a dummy site  to see how to best re-do my modifications. Once I know that, it will help make the switch over smoother.

my main site is going to work with 7.01, but I am happy with it on 7.09.

What will happen at the end of the countdown? Will my computer just take off? I thought it was called "Dolphin", not "Cape Canaveral"...

Ohh by the way, i can't wait for the new version to be released, that new wall is simply something i can't live without.

Right now my site it's being hacked by some sort of alien's entities, of course with my very unwilling help, so i will just take the opportunity to trash it all together hoping they will not abduct my dogs in retaliation....
