BOONEX ... Please respond to this.

Hi. Having initially installed D7 as a complete newbie which should, according to your big time promos & hype for Dolphin not be too big of a deal if the server meets all requirements, I've followed numerous forum posts in order to customize several css files to make our site look just the way that we like. That's after all the whole purpose of CSS files, to make customizing a fairly simple process without screwing up any system required core files. Well, it wasn't until our site was about 95% finished when houstonlively informed us that messing around with the base/css files was actually a terrible idea (even though most of the directions which I followed here called for changes in the base/css files).

Now I'm paranoid of course about any base/css files which may be affected if I decide to upgrade to version 7.01 on our server. So please, would you tell all of us specifically which base/css files will be affected during an upgrade? I'd hate to have to go through copies of files side by side, line by line, and I'm willing to bet that other people would be interested in an answer to this question also.

.

Almost done, is there any way at all that Boonex can post some concise step by step instructions on how to make our forums look and behave like your forum? When we had D7 installed we figured that our forum would look like your forum, and not that nasty mess which we received instead. I'm quite certain that many people would love to have instructions to have a better looking forum, especially those of us who have no idea how to incorporate other forums into the current Dolphin setup. I'd imagine that a single Boonex/Dolphin developer can write something up in a matter of a couple of hours ...

.

Okay, I promise, last question ... is it possible to actually use the D7 store after making the upgrade? If a member tries to set up a store with physical merchandise (not software) neither the price is stored for that item after saving, nor does a shopping cart even show up for that item. How is anyone supposed to be able to sell/buy anything that way? There are numerous questions here on the forum about the store features not working properly. Thank you so much, a bit of your time would be sincerely appreciated here.

When i updated to 7.0.1, from 7.0.0, i had made alot of changes to the Base files, and i didn't know about the changes wipe. Its a bit disheartening.. but hey, you learn.

I updated using a patch from Softaculous Auto Installer. After it was done, i'm not sure if it was part of Softaculous or Boonex, but they showed me every single file that been updated in a list.. for example;

index.php

Templates/Base/Scripts/BxBaseMenu.php

Modules/Boonex/Video/Scripts/admin_short.htm

So in effect it was list of patch notes and file changes, per file.

Surely someone must have a link to this page if this was Boonex created? If not, i'll have a test installation mocked up if i can and see if i can get a copy of that page. If i can that is!

First of all, you should always keep a log of changes you make to any files as a matter of course. Then you have a roadmap to follow to reapply the changes after an update. Also, if you have a list of changes, you can make those changes to the update zip file BEFORE you perform the update thereby maintaining your current sites look.

As far as making your forum look like the forum here, good luck. The forum here has been heavily customized by the Boonex crew. It is, however, based on the Orca so if you have skills, you can do the same! I can't answer your store question as I gave up on that way back in the beta stage.

C'mon now Boonex.
I've seen posts where you claim that you view posts and participate as or when needed.

The potentially affected css files during an upgrade are relevant to every newbie out there. The store is important to anyone who wants to sell anything other than software, and the forum has so many posts about it that it is ridiculous. One of you knowledgeable Boonex developers could answer this post quite easily I'm sure. How about some responsible support from Boonex? Thank you.

meinecommunity you should know by now that Boonex provides virtual zero forum support for this product.  They likely won't respond in a forum.  Try to ask your agent if they can help.

Well, that may well be, but Boonex does sell Dophin as commercial merchandise for a boat load of money. And that's why I'm going to keep bumping this page up every few days because other people need to be aware of the lack of support ... before buying into a product that is wildly claimed on the Boonex site to be the best and greatest and most complete and most amazing and most whatever with the most features. An intensive and complex application is only as good as the support for it and if the support is shitty then it shouldn't be offered commercially for a lot of money. Just imagine where Microshaft or Mac would be today if they treated customers like this. I'm not talking about now but even many years ago. Proper support is always critical for major applications ... or they may (should) fail miserably.

When I contact an "agent" the response is commonly either nothing ... or too technical for regular folks to understand ... or in such broken english that questions have to be repeated more than once in order to be 100% clear on the provided answer. Even at such a level the support is only as good as it is understandable for other people, not to mention the ones from other countries who literally have no hope whatsoever of any decent support for this product. I don't regret having to deal with D7 as I have been, but others should be more aware of the lack of support before becoming involved with D7.
Hence this topic ....
