Browse members not updating

Ok overnight I've had a few new members, but the browse box is still showing my original number of members.  For example, I had 3 new members last night.  Originally I had 5 members 2 female 3 male.  It still reads as 2 female 3 male even though these 3 new members have registered and confirmed their account (they are in the people search on the left).  These fields are mandatory in joining so thats not the issue.  Anybody else experience something like this?

More than likely they have set the profile to "Me Only". Dolphin displays total member count in the browse box and lists, but that doesn't mean you'll be able to see all the profiles.  I actually removed most of my browse boxes and lists because of that, it makes it look like your site is broke, not counting correctly, and therefore credibility is lost.  I got tired of explaining it to members, so I just removed it to avoid the issue.

What is the "me only" referring to? Is that an option set when joining? Why is the option there for people to set their profile to that? I want to avoid this problem too which is why I am asking for more detail on it. Thanks.

Every profile has privacy options.  Public, friends only, or me only if they don't want anyone at all to view their profile.
