Do you have an RMS IP address entered with the proper ports in your Flash Module settings? You must have a RMS Connection for Chat to load as I'm sure you probably had in Dolphin 6. :-) |
Yes, absolutely. Chat will work for me when I login as admin. When a user logs in, it gives the eppearance of "sitting in between chat rooms". |
Does anyone else have a clue why CHAT is not working in my D7? |
i have the same problem exept is a brand new install at arvixe |
i think i know this one sitename.com/administration settings/advanced settings / other Time period in minutes within which a member is considered to be online: increase that 1 to 5 see if it helps |
symptoms are the same flash loads but it is inactive (cant write, cant click) as member (even administrator) if visitor it work but obviously trying to send a message pups up an alert for login if administrator from the admin panel (in separete win) it works fine |
May be a permissions problem. Try this: /flash/modules/chat/files folder is 777 /flash/modules/chat/xml/: all files below - 666 config.xml :-) |
nope.... : [ still the same visitor is ok member gets the flash but no welcome text and cant write/click.... |

Yes. You must make sure your ports are opened up to allow outside traffic. I think the default ones are 1935 and 5080. Set them up as incoming tcp and all should work for you. Just adding the port numbers doesn't assure you it will work. The ports have to actually be opened at your server to allow the traffic. http://towtalk.net ... Hosted by Zarconia.net! |

SF, you are correct, the ports have to be open for AV streaming. however, i know exactly what is being said here and rayz knows it as well. Fresh install of dolphin, install the chat in the flash apps. admin can login from admin panel all appears to be well non-member can login from front-end, and is able to see the chat room logged in member goes to chat, the member profile photo is gone (also should notice a dashed line around the entire chat box) rayz has faced this issue and has addressed this issue with me as well. this is a sporadic occurrence, and does not repeat on every installation. and it has nothing to do with ports or the server or anything i have ever encountered. rayz narrowed it down to the way the url was being written when calling the members profile image, which was halting chat from fully loading. i think i will go create a ticket on that now in the bugs forum. if you have faced this same issue, you can concur in the bugs forum Regards, DosDawg When a GIG is not enough --> Terabyte Dolphin Technical Support - Server Management and Support |
I'm having the same problem and I have tried the fixes mentioned in here and even contacted my host.
Any ideas?
Thanks |
Yes Wait till they fix it BC I have had the same issue from the upgrade and was going to reintroduces it to find out but you did that for me here.... Csampson |
Well I can't afford to wait. I don't have thousands of members but I have enough start a successful site. The sooner I'm successful the sooner I can purchase more Boonex products and hire programmers and so on. I am completely sympathetic to the turmoil some of the Boonex team may be dealing with in their home countries. I also recognize that the size and complexity of the software is going to yield various kinds of bugs. However, this is probably the best social networking site package available and I would feel bad for boonex if they let this slip through their hands or have a customer mutiny over some bug issues. I will keep looking for a solution in the interim. Thank you |
Well I got chat to work on one of my sites by turning off the rms. Hopefully this will work on my other site as well. Thank you |
That would also disable most if not all of your flash programs................you might be able to chat but the best use of that chat feature is the video chat........I can't for one second believe that if they know this is an issue they don't have anyone working on it but I guess it is true BC I posted this quite a while ago shortly after the patch........Hmmmmmm Csampson |
I think there is a problem with the Boonex rms. After trying different settings including all of the recommended ones I get varying degrees of functionality with the flash apps. Since the Boonex rms is the commonality and the only thing out of our control it seems no matter what work around anyone proposes won't work. |

Nobody mentioned mod_security. Do you have mod_security enabled on your server? http://towtalk.net ... Hosted by Zarconia.net! |

I think your issue is different then the above. Turning off rms, doesnt seem to me, like it should make your issue better. You need your OWN rms from your host, not the boonex one. Many peopled have been baffled by that in the past. (??) There is only one set of setting that should make it work properly and your host should provide that. click on rms and get the next 3 settings from your host. This sentance says nothing, and its possibly spellt wrong. |
Im afraid you are chasing a ghost at this point as I have correct RMS settings provided by a third party that worked perfectly B4 the patch but it no longer works as I stated B4 and DosDog pointed out this is a known issue you can play with it until you feel so frustarted that you will realize that IMHO that a known issue is just that and unless you code it yourself there is no answer....... I agree, but what I was pointing out was that aftershock's problem, sounds different then these others in this string. If Dos is pointing out a bug, I would be confident he is correct. Although, there are numerous other fixable issues some have with chat, and rms, and I think Mr Shock should try this before giving into the idea that he is one affected by this "bug." This sentance says nothing, and its possibly spellt wrong. |
Good point....... Csampson |
Well what I have posted is true. I have 2 websites. One with the rms clicked off and using the boonex rms for regular chat and it works fine. I have another site with which I paid for an rms and have had the hosting company check my settings and they are correct. However, chat does not load correctly and no one can type in the chat room let alone use video. I am sorry if I was confused by this forums title "CHAT refuses to work after upgrade to 7.0" because I thought that is what my issue was. Thanks for the tip SkyForum. Good bye all, best of luck. |
FYI, Boonex RMS took a hike some months ago. Boonex used to provide what they considered a free RMS account to any and all who desired to have FREE RMS with their FREE Dolphin License. I believe Adrew reported that server costing them several thousdands of dollars to operate, and they made a decision some long time ago, might have been with Dolphin 6.1.4 and rms.boonex.com was killed. so if you are unticking USE RMS, then you are using standard chat and not AV chat. if you have an RMS account, and your AV chat is not working, then you need to consider a few things. If your RMS is separate from your hosting, then you need to ask your hosting if the required ports are open on that server so that your flash app can communicate with the RMS server on whatever set ports they are running. I think there is a problem with the Boonex rms. After trying different settings including all of the recommended ones I get varying degrees of functionality with the flash apps. Since the Boonex rms is the commonality and the only thing out of our control it seems no matter what work around anyone proposes won't work. if you have two dolphin sites, and neither of them can connect to RMS, then yes, i would look at your hosting service provider. get in touch with me, i will take a gander at this and see what the dealio is on this one for you. I am having this same issue of chat now working... just saying "loading." This happened after I upgraded from 7.01 to 7.02. I talked to Hostforweb and thay seem to think it's a Dolphin problem. Has this issue been fixed by anyone out there? If so, how did you do it? Thanks in advance, Glen |

If your signed into your site and you have a "chat room" tab open in your browser. You cannot open a second "chat room" tab...just gives you the "loading" I know this most likely is not the problem but I have forgotten that I had a couple browsers open and minimized while in a chat window. Then I have tried to open a new chat and chased my tail and remembered the minimized chat..... ManOfTeal.COM a Proud UNA site, six years running strong! |
Keep in mind also that after you upgrade, the RMS settings are reset back to 0.0.0.0 Make sure that you have entered your RMS setting back after the upgrade. While your at it, you might want to make sure that your permission levels are set right also, since some of them are also reset after the upgrade. Nothing to see here |
I don't know if this will work, but my chat isn't working since I upgraded to 7.02. I applied a new Ray License code for the Chat Plugin, but it still hasn't showed up under Licenses, under my account. How do I delete the A/V Chat License from the database so that I can reapply it? My thought is, maybe my chat will work after I do this. Thanks in advance. Glen
BTW: This forum doesn't work well when using Google Chrome. I had to switch to IE 8 to post this. |
I have the same issue. I have RMS from Arvixe and all works fine in D 7.0.1. But now I want to upgrade to d 7.0.2. I did: - fresh install of D7.0.2 - installed modules I used in previous version - deleted database and created new clean one - imported my backed up database - installed chat module - clear all cache
All works flawlessly including video chat, but chat room module is not functioning (it loads up, but get stuck, no writing is possible). I can access it from admin and can use it OK though. I even installed chat module from 7.0.1, but the same issue. It must be something with database i have from previous version. But this should not cause the problems when upgrade is desired. Chat works OK when I do clean install of D7.0.2 without importing my database. But this will not help me obviously.
I think we are close to sorting this out, so please, Dolphin developers out there, this shouldn't be really difficult issue for you. Thanks, V. |

You cannot use a 7.0.1 database on 7.0.2. There are database changes between the versions. That is why boonex provides an upgrade script. https://www.deanbassett.com |
Thanks for quick respond deano. Yes, you were right about database differences. All is good after upgrade :).
