Can't Install Dolphin - Blank Screen

I am trying to install Dolphin but when I access www.mysite.com/dolphin/install I get a blank page.  I am installing it on a Linux server running Apache, PHP, MySQL hosted by Host Monster.  I can upload custom php.ini files so if I need to change some stuff around in it I can.  I don't really know what other information I can give you about the problem because I haven't really got that far in the installation.  Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Check whether your files have uploaded fully.

Make display errors in your php.ini and try it. Or install mbstring for php.

hi, new to dolphin but really intersited... exactly what i want. but now i have the same problem as jonjon1123 and i have checked and double checked everything. don't really know my php.ini file but i don't think that will matter my good friend setup the server for me and he has done an excellent job i have installed basically any script you can think of. now i use this system for testing only (sorry hackers - no prime cuts here).

if any body has an idea on what could be the solution, please post here. busy downloading another file package to see if the previous package was not damaged somehow

Are all Ok?

hi, andrey? i checked those pages already.

jonjon1123 please read: also what i found could be a workaround for this stupid problem is that you download the dolphin package v6.0.0003 and then go to link http://www.boonex.com/trac/dolphin/wiki/6.0to6.1.2 and then bascially follow what they say there.

infact go to the url first and read what they say there, i'm still testing and seeing if this workaround will actually work.

otherwise i don't see why i can't just download two packages say v 6.0.0003 and then copy those install files over to the new package say v 6.1 and then trying to install the package. (not to imply stupidity but maybe compare the two install packages before copying it over.

note: backup is the best way to go before damaging the product permanently.

please let me know how you got on, and i'll do the same.

hi, AndreyP

I am pretty sure my php, mysql, and apache works pretty well in linux server because I have phpBB, mediawiki installed in the server. But I have th blank page for the install/index.php when installing dolphin6.  I tried the posted suggestions. none of them work.  Any idea?

It seems  that many people see the blank page, is there a good way to quickly fix it?

Thanks a lot

Rich

hi, am also getting the same blank screen for dolphin v.6.0.0005-Free which i downloaded to upgrade to dolphin v6.1.2-Free. but to no avail :(

the yoursiteurl/install/index.php file has an open <?php tag on line 1 and then on line 40 another <? doesn't this mean that it has to close somewhere? it closes on line 214 and then on line 1794 again. maybe it should close somewhere? unfortunately i only know the fine HTML language but still a learner in php and my knowledge is very limited...

any help people?

The problem can be fixed if you enable the show errors in your php.ini

I'm getting blank page after "Configuration".

What could be the problem?

You should check your .htaccess file thru your ftp server... I have found that sometimes the info there won't allow access on some servers... deleting all the info may help. Hope this helps

Hi twolf,

thanks for your reply.
I'm not certain if I understood what you said.
I tried to access localhost/dolphin/.htaccess and I received "Forbidden". :/
I tried with .htaccess empty and with the original content.
Where do I change permissions? (I can access any file in the folder via browser, except .htacess. I did chmod 777 for everything in the folder).
Can you help me (again), please?

;)

I was installing behind a proxy and the Dolphin was not reaching the Internet.

Below is the legacy version of the Boonex site, maintained for Dolphin.Pro 7.x support.
The new Dolphin solution is powered by UNA Community Management System.
