Can't recompile language

I have installed Dolphin 7

Language file was not in correct folder so I uploaded manually via ftp from install folder to the lang folder.

Under settings > language settings there is no default site language in the drop down.

When I added modules I was not able to recompile languages to get rid of the brackets in the menu titles etc.

Any help is appreciated.

A shot in the dark here. Are you trying to get rid of the brackets in the forum ??

If you are, that compiler is not located in the admin screens. Log into the site as admin, go to the forum page and click the 'compile en (or whatever your language is)' link..

All the modules I installed do not have the proper headings even when I recompile the language for them.

I think the language was not properly installed, I copied the language file to the /lang folder manually.

Cry

The language related tabels in the database do not have any info in them.

try this

login as admin and type

yoursite.com/orca

and then clik on EN

it should work

I don't have anything installed in the /orca folder so I'm not sure how that would  work?

you may well have to reinstall, this sounds like something went wonky during installation.

I had this same problem.

There are 2 things I have found that worked, one for me, and the other for everyone else:

Here is the common fix:

- Go to your admin panel.

- Select: Settings > Advanced Settings > Templates

- De-select all cache checkboxes. *Leave "Enable cache for HTML files" checked. Then save.

- Select: Modules > Orca Forum

- Then recompile your language file from there.

- Finally, refresh your browser.

*This has worked for several people, but not me.

What worked for me was this:

- Uninstall "Events" and "Groups" via Admin Panel >> Tools > Module

- Afterward, uninstall "Forums" the same way.

- Download the latest Dolphin 7 from Boonex (Even if you have it, get a fresh copy) and extract the .zip drive on your computer.

- Via your webhost control panel or FTP, delete ONLY the "forum" folder (www.mysite.com/modules/boonex/forum)

- Upload the fresh copy of the "forum" folder from the new Dolphin download to the same place you deleted it from.

- Visit Admin panel >> Tools > Modules and reinstall "Orca Forum"

- Then reinstall "Events" and "Groups" afterward.

- Click "Admin Home" at the top of your admin panel and Clear all cache

- Click Modules > Orca Forums and recompile your language, then refresh your browser.

** That's how I got mine to work.

Hope this helps.

What worked for me was to reupload (using ftp) all the files to a new folder and reinstall. I even used a different computer to do it.

There may be errors in the file upload using ftp. Even when you overwrite the file it may still be corrupted. You need to start fresh in a new folder.

to me it was a problem with the theme I use. This has been solved by the developers.
