Cannot backup from admin

Hello Team,

When I click on admin -> Tools -> Database Backup -> Database backup Tools (tab) -> select backup structure and content -> Save to PC -> Backup database.

After about 1 minute I will end up on my site (out of the admin) without any file to download.

If I select Save to server I get exactly the same results.

Thank you for helping out...

Best is to backup database through cpanel / phpmyadmin to insure complete backup.

Check your error.log file for some php errors there

PS: If possible do not write me personally, please try to ask on the forum first

Might be a PHP misconfiguration, but it doesn't matter.  Backups should be done from cPanel/phpMyAdmin (as said above).

Same here, is the database if large, the backup always times out. I have never been able to it that way, so I manually backup the entire root folder and sql databases, it's the only way to be safe! I say this after many failed attempts.

I never bother with that anymore.

I had the same issue... seems the default "free" Database Backup mod does not work for anything beyond a simple Dolphin setup with a trivial amount of content.  After doing backups manually for a while I opted to purchase Boonexpert's Database Master Backup mod... no regrets.  Note: I use shared hosting.

most likely as mentioned by nathan, this is a server configuration issue. if you are on a host with cpanel, you can create a backup from cpanel using the backup wizard.

however, backing up only to the local server is not truly a savior, as you are still on a SPOF (single point of failure).

if you run the backup wizard, you will also need to move that backup from your space to an off-premise location. also understand this, and where i have not had to test this myself, but, it is my understanding that you cannot restore a cpanel backup from cpanel, you would have to restore that from whm. in saying that, it truly is a good and worthy investment to pay for a backup solution.

Its just started working again.

My serves also backed up remotely every 20 mins so i dont need a extra backup [SPOF] and as soon the simple back up works well.
