Cannot delete members from members page on Admin panel

I am running D7.0.9 and cannot seem to get rid of members on the admin page who are definitely spammers. I can click on delete, and  nothing happens. I can do other actions with members including ACTIVATE, but delete does not delete them from the database at all. Any suggestions?

Have you cleared your User Cache in 'Admin Home' page?

Had a bad module which did not have a field in the database... and that was stopping the delete script. It could not find a FANS field in the module to delete both confirmed and unconfirmed fans. So uninstalled the module and all works fine
