How can I change the order of the countries list? I have tried MANY times to reorder them and clicked "Save" at the bottom, but then when I open the list again they have returned to the default order!! Since my members will be mostly from U.S., Canada, UK, and few other countries, I want to have all them at the top of the list. This is frustrating... ---Robin Rae, http://SecretSisterClub.net |
Are you arranging them in the predefined values list? Geeks, making the world a better place |
Yes. That seems to be the only place to make changes to these lists. ---Robin Rae, http://SecretSisterClub.net |
I did a test on my test site and it is not working there either. Let me test at the demo site. Geeks, making the world a better place |
It is working at the demo site, so it must be something with our setup; server, etc. Maybe someone else will chime in with what to check, it is too late for me to investigate now. However, yes, that is how you set the order of the list. Geeks, making the world a better place |
Huge thank you for checking this, GeekGirl! Let me know what you find out. Hopefully someone else may have a solution to this issue.... ---Robin Rae, http://SecretSisterClub.net |

ur website not opening at all..
i was really looking forward to see secretsisterclub.net..
is this club not for guys..:)

Yes, Prince. The site is not opening because I just changed the host and they are having issues with a couple files... And yes, the membership of my site is only for women who work in the erotic services industry. ---Robin Rae, http://SecretSisterClub.net |
Has anyone had any success finding out how to reorder and save the countries list?? This is very bothersome. Most all of my members will be from U.S., so they have to scroll all the way down the list to find the U.S. label.
I hope someone can help with this....

Hello,
First of all you have a lot of missing languages keys on your site which means, when you add new fields and other new parts on your site you nedd to add new language keys for them or you and-up like this:
- _Hetero
- _Bi-sexual
- _Lesbian
- _Transexual
- _Undecided
- _Other
Next, when Login floating window opens and I click on Join Now I got error: page not found 'couse something is wrong with your link to join.php (this is what it tries to open: "http://secretsisterclub.net/SecretSisterClub/%7B0%7Djoin.php"
As for the country order:
I did it true Predefined list, by moving my country to the top of the list. I have checked dolphin database for you, and you should see your country in your DB in table sys_pre_values like: LKey: _US , Order: 0
I like the template
Kind regards
Mayki

Looks like your install didn't do so well.
This is wrong.

What version of Dolphin is this?

I tried moving it up through the pre-defined list and even updated the table manually.. It still doesn't default to United States first. Nothing to see here |

Newton27,
What do you mean by "this is wrong" (with the screenshot of the footer of my site)? My site is up and working fine now. The server just had to reinstall a couple files, but all is good now, at least with the site hosting. My problem is with being able to "save" changes I make to the countries list, inside predefined values. Any suggestions?
I am fully updated to Dolphin 7.1.5.

Mayki,
Thank you for your reply! How can I be missing alot of language keys? These are the language keys installed with Dolphin. How can they get deleted? Are you able to know which language keys I am missing?
I have a link on the home page of the site called "Join Us Now" (upper right under Grand Opening). That link goes directly to Join Page... join.php. In checking out the other Join links (inside the floating login box), you are right, the page is not found. I see that page is directed to (0)join.php. Do you know why that would be, and how I can fix that?
Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated! I am not a techie...I am a newbie, but need to learn. Thank you so much Mayki. Have a beautiful day!

Your site might be up and running but like I stated, there are some issues that you have.
The image shows the Boonex popup, but it is wrong. That is supposed to "float" which it does not, it is at the bottom or footer section which is fixed, like in 7.0.

Mayki,
That solution will work for something like the Join form, but it doesn't work for Events, Groups, etc. since the 'add' pages are not within the Page Builder.
My guess is that the default will need to be added to the BxEventFormAdd.php, BxGroupsFormAdd.php, etc. somehow since moving them in the pre-defined list does not work.
Nothing to see here |

No, those language keys are not default in Dolphin.
You have to manually add those, then recompile it.

Thanks for finding this, Mayki. Although I have already made that change earlier. I do have United States as the default in the Join Form, but there are other countries that I want to include at the top of the drop down list. Currently, the entire drop down list is in alphabetical order, and I don't plan to have members from most of those countries. I want to have the 5-6 most used countries at the top of the drop down list.
Alternatively, I started a new predefined values list and titled it Country2. But I don't want the name to be Country2 in the form. There seems to be no way to rename or delete the original list called Country, so I can reuse that title name.
This is not a "major" issue.... just very annoying, so wanted to change it. Thanks again!

I do have some issues, but they do not have to do with the Boonex ad in my footer! I do not know WHY my Boonex ad is not floating....but I DO have the latest 7.1.5 installed. Maybe this is yet another issue to bring up with the Boonex team? Do you think that my Boonex ad not being "floated" has something to do with why my countries list does not save after I make changes or why my video message recorder screen has colors all messed up? Strange, but maybe Boonex team should know.
Again.... I am NOT a "techie"! Don't expect me to be one. This is why I am asking for help here in the forum....
---Robin Rae, http://SecretSisterClub.net |
you can ask someone to add a extra index field in the pre_values table. then only for country records add a index number
example:
Country UK = 1 Country US = 2 Country Etc... and the rest of countries = next value in this case '3'
then in the query add the order by clause 'ORDER bY Index_Field_2 ASC' to sort the country list as you want it.
Hope this makes sense...
|
Thanks, Solusoft.
Yes, this is a bit confusing to me. I think I already did add an index to the prevalues table. This is when I added the index titled "Country2", since I could not use Country (already in use).
So I am especially confused looking at:
...then in the query add the order by clause 'ORDER bY Index_Field_2 ASC' to sort the country list as you want it.

The float problem with the boonex ad is a template issue. It appears your template is not completely compatible with dolphin 7.1.5. You may want to bring this issue up with the template developer.
If your switch to the uni template by specifying the skin on the url like so, http://secretsisterclub.net/SecretSisterClub/index.php?skin=uni than you will see it works fine on the default template. Of course your addthis buttons are covering it up, which i am sure would be a vilation of the rules regarding proper attribution on unlicensed versions, but all the same, it does work with the default template.

I am using a custom template purchased from DolphinTemplate. They updated the template about a year ago to work with the 7.1.4 version. I have many design changes I want made to my template, but have had no response from DolphinTemplate in almost 6 months! So getting help from him will be impossible. But again...I am NOT concerned about the "floating" or not floating Dolphin logo. That should not be affecting my site.
I do not want to change to the Uni template. That does not suit the theme of my site. Even if there were another template that is similar to my current template, I need my site ready NOW.... changing a template at this point will only take further time, and my cause even more issues than I already have.
Also.... I am sure that whatever template I use is not the reason I cannot get my Country list to save changes.

ok, good luck with that!

How to sort predefined values and have them display properly in the default dolphin modules country drop down list.

THANK YOU SO MUCH, JAY!! This helps alot. Seems many people on the forum just like to make us non-techies feel stupid, while not offering any suggestions to help. I post questions on the forum requesting help & suggestions, not ridicule and attacks. Thank you for your help, dolphin_jay!
Only problem though is... the issue I have is getting the list to accept my "save" request. It always reverts to the default after clicking "save". So don't know if your solution will work, since the list won't save.

What if you try switching to the default UNI template as was suggested earlier, and then try making your changes. See if that works. Just a bit of FYI that I have found. Although a scenario may seem like it has nothing to do with another scenario, it is best to resolve all problematic scenarios at your earliest convenience. I have had several instances where I thought one issue had nothing to do with another and I was totally wrong - even the smallest things can cause big havoc.
Whatever is causing the template issue may also be keeping your changes from saving - especially if your template has any javascript in it. Speaking of which, also try turning off all caches when making changes and see if that works (be sure to clear your caches as well).
I am just throwing out different thoughts hoping one will spark the proper answer.

Thank you for your suggestions, ProfessorSr. I tried making the changes after changing my template to Uni, but my changes still do not change. This is very strange! One time I spent quite a long time rearranging the country list how I wanted, only to lose all my work when the changes didn't save. It is maddening!
I also have a couple other issues going on with other parts of my site, so I don't have lots of time to spend figuring this out right now. I was hoping it was a simple fix that other people had also experienced. I tried doing this on the Dolphin demo site, and it worked fine. Unfortunately, it seems that I am the only one.

Yes! Thank you, Tommi. That is exactly what I am talking about! I can reorder and reorganize the entries, but after I click "Save", it is reverted to default (as your picture shows). Does anyone know how to solve this issue??

When i hit save, it reloads the page and a success message appears briefly at the top.
Do you have any message that appears at the top after you click save.
As for fixing it. Knowing what to do to fix it requires we know why it is not working. That may require you let someone into the server to monitor the post values, and examine the server logs for errors.
For now, go into admin into the tools, then host tools then under the audit tab in the software requirements section, post what you see there here so we can see the current settings for things like post_max_size. https://www.deanbassett.com |
I may have found the true reason why the sort is not working for most people. It's due to a php setting called max_input_vars.
By default this value is set to 1000 characters you need to set this to 1800 in your php.ini.
for those that are on shared hosting this may not be possible for you to do. the only thing you can try is create a php.ini in you public_html folder and place max_input_vars = 1800 and save it.
You then should be able to move all the countries around and save it.
give it a try and let me know how it works out.

No, I did not have a message at the top after saving. The page reloads, then all the items are back to their default positions.
No sure how much you need to see from my host tools section, but hope this will help:
- memory_limit = 536870912 - OK
- post_max_size = 536870912 - OK
- upload_max_filesize = 536870912 - OK

I just checked on this, and looks like mine is set correctly. This is what I find in that file:
max_execution_time = 30 max_input_time = 60 max_input_vars = 1800 memory_limit = 512M date.timezone = UTC
---Robin Rae, http://SecretSisterClub.net |
Yeah thats because i put it there but they do not allow php settings over ride so its not picking up the changes.
Moving your site over now to one of our servers. will message you soon.
