Changed role from admin to member, now can't log in?

I have a handful of members on my site that I had assigned the admin role (role=3), this was so they could manage the site while I left for vacation.

Upon returning, and setting their role back to 1 (standard member), they can no longer log in. Login prompt states bad username or password, even after resetting it through the admin panel still no luck.

Validated their status is active etc and nothing else has changed. They can even use the forgot password to have a new one generated, but can't get in with it.

When I change their role back to 3 (admin), they can log in just fine. What's the deal? Sorry if this has been covered already, I couldn't find any topics discussing it in my search efforts though.

just clear the cache via cpanel or ftp and it should be fine after that ....

lol  your welcome.  in all fairness  dolphin should dump the member ids from cache if you changed them from the profile page..

if you did it from the database will then not dolphins fault there i guess.

Well, it was nice here - now thunderstorms and down-pouring rain *please don't knock out my power* lol.

Back inside, this issue is starting to get to me. I can't figure out what would be locking these accounts up now. I have flushed every type of cache dolphin has (that I know of, most of it is disabled in the admin panel).

No matter what I do, whenever I take a user that was previously an admin role and change them back to standard it will not accept their credentials. Change them back to an admin and BOOM they're in no problem?

I did use deanos tools to make the change initially, but even when altering the db directly the results are unfavorable.

I wonder if this is now down to browser cache ?  using fire fox by any chance?  I can take a look at it as well if you want.

I was thinking that as well, but then I cleared the cache/history against firefox & chrome browsers with the same issue.

What was strange is that upon switching the role back to 3 in the database, the credentials were immediately accepted without having to even refresh the login page let alone the cache.

Since I'm in the middle of a migration, I figured I would just dump the profiles table completely and re-import it from my production database - this time making the role changes before importing. Now, all three users that were once admins are now standard role and no login issues. Wondering if it was a DB cache issue?

Should have tried restarting mysqld on the VPS before I resorted to what I did, but am thankful that I'm over that little glitch. Now on to resolving why subcategories wont load for my classifieds mod, and figuring out why new users on the migrated site will over-write the avatars of existing members when they add a new one...

Well if you wanted to you could have went into the cache folder and looked for say  user1.php and removed it from the database if that was the user that was admin to normal user.

then let the cache replace user1.php and then open user1.php  and see if the role has take change in there.  It just holds all the user profile info in it.

not sure if this will help or not.
