Hi I know I have read about issues with the chat since 7.03. but cant find them now.
I dont use rms( video chat) I use just plain chat. It stopped working since upgrade to 7.04, 5 and 6. Simple messenger and privite chat are working, just the main chat is loading, and loading, and loading....
Can I just upload chat module from 7.03 and be ok with it?

Recheck your permissions. If your site is all upgraded, don't upload old version chat files. Custom Dolphin Development and Support, Professional Mods | http://www.boonex.com/unity/Adminmysite |
Thanks for your help. Ill try that. I have read in forums permissions differ that boonex instal info. Tried both , still the same problem. Ill do it again.
Thank again.

The Main Chatroom requires RMS. If you do not have it, then you cannot use the Chatroom. You can only use simple messenger. Nothing to see here |
Thanks Zarkon for the info. I renamed updated chat module, then uploaded the whole chat module from 7.03 as it is from unzipped folder, just to see whats going to happen.... and the chat is working now. I dont know about chat security/ functionality changes but Im good as it is now.
Thanks everyone for suggestions.

The chat module doesn't require the media server, except for when you are using the video and audio features of it.

Hmm.. Thats strange because if I remove my RMS settings, the Chatroom will just sit there at connecting and never connects.

Did you also uncheck the media server option?

Uncheck the Use Rms? Yes, Unchecking that will automatically 'gray-out' the IP address and Ports. Nothing to see here |

Then that's rather odd, because the chat module works without the media server, albeit only in text mode.

I'm not using RMS and my chat works fine. You possess an intuitive intelligence so powerful it can help you heal, and relieve stress. |
Yea for sure you do not need RMS to use Text based chat rooms..... maybe the setting are staying in the xml file in the /flash/modules/chat folder or something.
I dont think they store that info in cache but they very well might.. so clearing it might not hurt after you uncheck it.
I have seen this problem on some sites/servers if not using rms...

Aight dag nabit.. I am trying this shhhhhhhh again. Nothing to see here |
Ok, so this does work.. But I could almost swear I could not get this to connect when there was no RMS assigned.
I Suppose its possible there was a RMS issue with my host at the time I tried. Or maybe it just so happen to be the same night I was abducted by aliens..
Alright everyone, I was proved wrong. You can scratch my remark about RMS required.

That's not good enough. I want an apology sent to me on a t-shirt. And it better be 100% cotton, or there'll be hell to pay.
