I wrote about them a while back, but I had other reasons for despising them.
My least favorite web hosting provider is Cirtex Hosting.
During my time with them, the support was sub-par and their servers were
always under-fire. When I finally had enough with them, I moved off to
another web hosting company, but leaving them was a hassle in itself.
The support team seemed clingy on trying to keep me, I only managed to
cancel my web hosting package when I agreed to let them manage my domain
name. A mistake, since they later decided to not issue me an invoice,
and not allow me to pay for the renewal. They also would not answer any
of my support requests.
My favorite web hosting provider is tied with MM Hosting and Media
Temple.
I'll write about them some other time. The Cirtex Hosting write-up has
left me drained.
The thing is, you cannot actually complain in this situation, since they are trying to install the script for you, evident by them asking you for further information. The list of recommended web hosting providers is for compatibility with the script, not knowledgeable support personnel specializing in a particular script. If you want this kind of service, you will have to purchase web hosting from a Dolphin web hosting company, such as Terabyte Hosting Solutions.
The other thing about the recommended web hosting list, is it is actually misleading. In reality, web hosting companies can only become listed if they pay various monthly fees to BoonEx, regardless if they are really up to par for the script. It's a sleazy kind of business, but it is done, nevertheless. It should also be noted that the majority of these web hosting providers, although can run the script, cannot run it beyond a basic installation, and will suspend you after any slight sign of use, due to their ridiculous server resource policies. These are called "nickel hosts," because they resemble the Hershey's five cents candy bars of older days: they are cheap, because they offer a cheaper product. A "real" web hosting package costs roughly $20.00/month or higher, and this is only for grid and cluster environments. The recommended web hosting package for the script is a VPS or dedicated server, which can cost roughly $50.00/month. In short, if you are truly serious about using this script, you must invest a considerable amount of money.
