Cron jobs.

I'm a novice maybe in between a novice and expert.  I'm stuck on the cron jobs section:

I don't have cpanel but I do have something similar it's called "hosting dashboard"

I'm using linux OS (hosting)

My question is where do I place the:

/usr/local/bin/php -q m:/home/localhost/www/d70/periodic/cron.php

at?

Do I need to open notepad paste it and then upload to a certain directory on my server?

Not really sure, I need to know exactly what I need to do and the instructions don't say it.

Thanks

If you have shell access, you may be able to add the cron job directly by entering the following command:

crontab -e

which should open an editor and allow you to enter the cron job.  Saving the changes should then create the cron job.

I've never heard of "hosting dashboard."  If you're with a hosting provider, you should ask them about creating cron jobs on their servers.

It's kinda like cpanel.

Ok so I'm looking at "content" section of my hosting dashboard aka cpanel and notice an icon named "Cron Job Manager"  I clicked on it now it's giving me an option to add email "output from cron jobs is sent to this email address" ok so I input the email address.  Now it's giving me an option to click on "create cron job"

Now it's giving an option to input "cron job title"

                                                          "Frequency" currently set at hourly

                                                           "minute" currently set at x:00

And it also has a section for "command"  with a button that says browse and when I click on it it's giving me an option to actually select a file from my hosting.

Ok so what you have told me is the same thing I've been reading.  Where do I place that code, for example do I create a text file using notepad, do I create a html page inputing that info on the page and saving as .htm or saving it as .php.

You should set

/usr/local/bin/php -q m:/home/localhost/www/d70/periodic/cron.php

as the command.  It should also run every minute.

I'm assuming the title option is just a convenience, so you can easily keep track of which cron job does what.

I'm assuming I have to select that line of text.  If so, where do I find that text is the cron.php, is it in the dolphin directory in a sub directory?

I was able to figure it out. I searched for cron.php in my folder for the dolphin directory and was able to select it once I found it, totally not the same as what you posted. I knew I would figure it out sooner or later.

I'm assuming the command I posted is what Dolphin's installer gave you.  If selecting the file directly from your control panel is also working, that's good enough.

Yeah it is thanks.

I'm starting to like this software, I might buy it sometime next year.  I want to convert it to a gay type community but instead of re-naming and adding gay men gay women and adding searching for gay and or lesbians is there another type of theme or something where it's already been added?  Does anyone know?
