Crontab & mail working marginally

I have copied and pasted the crontab entries in my Linux box, per the detailed install instructions. and the only thing that's happening - with some mass emails in my queue - is this: at  midnite I get an email (time stamped 2:00 AM - don't know what that's about) that looks like this (the mass email in my queue goes nowhere) - any ideas...?:

- Membership expiration letters -
Send membership expire letters: 0 letters

- Temporary files check -
Total temp files: 8
Deleted temp files: 0

- Database cleaning -
Deleted profiles: 0
Deleted virtual kisses: 0
Deleted messages: 0
Deleted private messages: 0
Deleted profile views: 0

- Modules check -
Profiles processed successfully

Hmm - I just jerked around with permissions and - after 2 days of fiddling - it worked.  Cancel that question, I guess.  However,  the HTML ends up displaying in plain text - well, showing all of the code - in every sort of mail system.....
