D7.2 - No submenu appears

Hello

Fresh install of D7.2

I have a problem with submenu items doesnt roll-out when hover on the top level menu.

It is like that on the home page and all other sub-pages.

All sub-items (menus) are in place on menu builder.

I recompiled languages, deleted all files from tmp, cache and public_cache folder, but it doesnt help.

Any ideas please? Checked on a few browsers.

I have just found that this issue is only when website is set to EVO default D7.2 design.

All submenu appears on other two designs (UNI and ALT).

So how to make submenu works on EVO? Is it a bug?

I think it is a bug. Demo site suffers with the same problem. Submenu doesnt appear on EVO design but it works on two other designs.

Boonex team please help.

Those days 90% of modern web scripts (and D7.2 pretends to be one of them) are mobile friendly and fluid designed.

There is no reason whatsoever that mobile friendly app or template could not have menu with sub-items appearing on hover. It is just bad design in my opinion. Menu type can be 'full option' set as default and then it can be changed during-the-page-load when mobile device is found.

Please note that without sub-level menus users cant access some of the script options unless you make all items as top-level menu (which is pointless).

is not a bug, is a template style choice by BoonEx to make it most mobile friendly, however sub menu is present in each category as you can see from the attached image.

....ok, I see it now. So after clicking on the main menu item we have another menu bar appears with sub-menu items under the main menu. But to see all sub-menu items user need to click-on it.

It took me a few minutes to figure it out that there is another (separate) bar with sub-items. Means it is not obvious nor intuitive design.

Dear Boonex, why this extra menu gets open on-click and not on-hover?? Also, what is the reason of having separate bar with sub menu items instead of having all sub-menu appeared right under their parent items on-hover ??

Overcomplicated and not intuitive design.

In EVO template, is thera a way of having menu working in standard way, with sub menu appearing on-hover right under parent item, same as it is on UNI and ALT templates??

Or at least the extra sub-menu items to roll-out on-hover and not on-click?

why this extra menu gets open on-click and not on-hover?

Because it is meant to work that way.

To work on mobile devices, the menu cannot "fit" if done with drop down there.

It's the whole reason for the EVO template, responsive for all devices.

@newton27: The fact it is responsive for all devices doesnt make it well designed yet.

There is no reason to over complicate things, especially when it comes to users experience and usability. This menu type as used here even if works well on mobile devices doesnt do the job on a big screen.

Please note what I already wrote 2 posts back:

If horizontal menu with drop sub menu items doesnt 'fit' for small screens (as you says), switching to vertical collapsible harmony type menu on mobile devices is your friend (and a quite standard solution).
