Love the addition of this module. But it doesnt seem to work for me in Beta7, or takes an extreme amount of time. It just keeps saying in process.
Anyone having any luck?

I'm afraid to try it, but I am still taken aback that they have done this before helping us with a beta to beta upgrade script. I have a feeling the smart people didn't suffer through the betas at all. They will just wait till the RC and then just press a button. Since Boonex won't help us with the beta-to-beta upgrade all this testing could be mostly a waste of time. I am frustrated tonight as I just discovered they still haven't fixed the multiple select checkboxes on the join form - a really critical part of my application. Rob |
Yeah, I started testing the betas when the first one came out and was testing a lot, then after 3 and then 4 came out, I decided to wait. I havent played with it since then, but figured it had to be close to a RC version. My site is going to launch with 6, but will have a preview of 7 so members can see what is to come. |
Well as I posted on the blog, if they are not going to give us a beta-to-beta upgrade script, then what sense does a D6 to beta migration module make, since we just have to destroy it and start all over again anyway. When they say we should "test, test, test" - why? There is nothing in it for us - we just have to start all over again anyway. |
Very true. One reason I stopped testing after the first Beta. I had added members, articles, played with some of the styles, changed page layouts, etc etc all for testing, but to also somewhat create how I would like my site to look. Then beta 2 comes out and I have to start all over. Not that I was using the beta as a functional site, but like you said, even just testing it and having to keep starting over is annoying. |

Make sure that crontab job is installed and working. Also it runs every 20 minutes, so if you didn't match the time it will take up to 20 minutes to complete. Rules → http://www.boonex.com/terms |
I actually created a post regarding this too. I have tested it and it didnt seem to work with my 6.1.4. You can see my post here: http://www.boonex.com/unity/forums/topic/Data-Migration-Module-2009-10-11.htm Nothing to see here |
I tried the Data Migration tool on my 6.1.6 live site. I installed 7 beta in a test area on the same server. Configured the Data Migration module and ran it.: Ads took about 5 minutes to process, and then completed successfully. Photos took about 15 minutes to process, and then completed successfully. Profiles processed about 15 minutes, but then gave me a generic error saying that it was unable to migrate the Profiles. The error was so vague that I have no freakn clue as to what is wrong. So, I wrote a script that does import the profiles easily . . and it worked. So, I did import the Profiles table only. But it is looking to be a big headache, because the old "media" table is very different from what the new "Photos_main" table is. The new Avatar as main pic is a new twist, when migrating old profiles into Dolphin 7. Not quite sure how to convert all their old primary pics into avatars as main pics in the new system For now, I was able to move the profile information . . . .but nobody has pics available yet in 7, because I have not yet figured out how to do this. |
Update: The photos data migration did give me a success message . . . but . . . No photos data has appeared in any of my Beta 7 tables, and no photos appeared anywhere in the Beta 7 files. I checked media/images/profiles . . .I checked flash/photos, I checked modules/photos/ Nothing. So, if it was a success, where did they (the photos and the photo table data) migrate too? Outer space? |

Where do I find the crontab job that needs to be installed? Thanks. Cory |
Your Cron Jobs are located in your web hosting back-end software (such as cPanel). That is here you set them up. The is no place in Dolphin Admin to do this............but wish there was :) Nothing to see here |
