Database/IM spamming Issue

Had to shut down my dolphin install tonight due to spam attacks going direct to the database sending messages to everyone onthe site. Log shows entries like:

GET /flash/XML.php?module=im&action=updateInvite&recipient=13103&_t=1284267440942

Anyway to determine user account they are using? Or to stop such abuse?

They are using different IP's for each entry, so a simple server ban isn't an option.

I have the same problem every single day.  If anyone has any ideas on blocking these spammers - please help!  thanks

No official word, but after taking the site down for a few days it started right back up again. Over 200,000 hits spread out across about a dozen Ip'saround the world. The culprit: Messenger and Simple Messenger, disable those and they are locked out. Email and chat still works, you just loose the instant message system that no one really uses on my board.

Hope it helps you.
