db info should be in /inc/header.inc.php

line 60

$db['host']                = 'xxxx';
$db['sock']                = '';
$db['port']                = '';
$db['user']                = 'xxxx';
$db['passwd']              = 'I forgot my password';
$db['db']                  = 'xxxx';

Ok, got to the part of installing the phpbb forum and all was well until I entered the wrong email password. Whole thing blew up in my face and the installer wouldn;t finish. Now I restart the installer and it tells me tables with the specific prefix already exist and still wont continue, LOL!

I suppose I could just go delete the 75 some-odd tables it just added and start over?

Here's another question for you, when the database throws an error, why does it tell you waht the error was then send you the ENTIRE contents of your database in an email?

you need to turn off the error reporting

with notepad create a file  called phperr.txt and upload it to the folder /inc/

now add this to your php.ini settings

display_errors = Off
display_startup_errors = Off
log_errors = On
error_log = /home/content/your/path/html/inc/phperr.txt
error_reporting = E_ALL

make sure u change the path :)

now all the errors will be saved to that file so you can view it anytime

Give it different DB if your installing phpBB3, name this one phpBB4 or something like that and it will connect to the new one.  You do this in the install page when your assiging all the information to it.

I made a similiar mistake once and handled it that way.  You can then delete the other tables when you have time.

Wow, nice bit of info. thanks. BTW, I did manage to successfully get the board installed after all. I also learned if you are not sure what your password is for your email, do NOT enable admin email and enter the wrong one during the install process. The whole thing craps a big one in your front yard and you have to start over. LOL
