Dedicated Hosting ???

Hi

From what I have read it seems a dedicated server is a must for any serious intentions in running Dolphin.

How difficult is it to manage a dedicated server?

I am quite used to shared hosting and control panel features.

Is Plesk easy enough to manage? ie: Has it all the features of control panel?

also is there a limit on the number of domains I can have?

If you are going to run PLESK or WHM/cPanel then being on a dedicated server is no different than being on a shared host.  The difference is behind the control panel in that the only sites running on the server are the ones that you put on it.

blueyhills - Think of managing a server similar to managing your own PC. If your host does not offer any support at all, then you'd be responsible for everything from installing and configuring the OS, MySQL, PHP, etc. You would also have to do any type of upgrades, security patching, and/or maintenance yourself.

Plesk is not 'exactly' like cPanel but it has all the features you need for running Dolphin for sure. It's definitely manageable.

The limit of domains depends on the host. For example, at Zarconia, we offer 10 domains with our Plesk.

Adding to this, this limit is so we can offer Plesk with our standard dedicated servers - their lowest-price license is full featured with a limit of 10 domains on the server. We also offer their 30, 100, and unlimited domain licenses at-cost. We also offer cPanel at-cost as an alternative to Plesk.

Plesk is very comparable to cPanel, especially for its end-user features (what you'd access in a cPanel account). You can try out a demo of Plesk here: http://www.odin.com/products/plesk/hands-on-demos/ - You'll want to use the Web Host edition demo, which is the most similar to our installation.
