Deleting promo images

Hello, I am working on someone's website and he uploaded pictures in the

Settings > Basic Settings > Promo section. Two of these images have been uploaded with ' characters in it and the system escaped them to \'

However for some reason, some browsers can not display them, I get a destroyed image in the slideshow at the homepage.

When I click delete in the Promo section, I can delete all images but these two. The site just reloads and the files are still there.

How can I remove them from the listing? I already tried to find them in the database but I had no success finding any entry of these images after walking thru all tables of the Dolphin database.

Delete them from the folder. media\images\promo using cpanals file manager.

As mentioned, that is what not works because neither filemanager nor ftp can access the images.

Or what do you mean with cpanel filemanager? I see no filemanager when I log in as admin and go into the dashboard.

cPanel is a web hosting control panel.  You should ask the client for their control panel login information and use the built-in filemanager.  From there, navigate to the directory Deano described and delete the files with brute force.

Edit: TL;DR: Deano isn't refering to the Dolphin administration panel, but the web hosting control panel.

delete the files with brute force.

If that doesn't work you could also try deleting them with extreme prejudice..

When they are removed from filesystem, are they gone in the admin panel too?

I got their FTP login but deleting them with FTP returns a file not found error (although its there in the file listing).

The images have a name of "I'ts about..." and I think the problem is the ' character there that isn't escaped on the filesystem and therefore taken as a limiter. The admin panel tho escaped them with /' and that's the whole mess there.
