Does Dolphin Contain Cripple Code?

1 Sorry, site is temporary unavailable. Please try again later.

I assumed this message was generated by Dolphin but I am unable to find the text in any of the files; I can not find the substring "site is temporary unavailable" either although similar messages appear in other code.  Therefore, I suspicious that this is in some encrypted code in Dolphin designed to cripple the site upon some error.

I am requesting; as a Boonex customer with a paid license, to know what code generates this message so I can correct the error; if Boonex does not want to post it here in the forum then a PM is perfectly acceptable.

I have strong feelings against cripple code and hope that Boonex does not practice such.

Are you using Dolphin or Trident?

What version of Dolphin or Trident?

I have checked my site and all is OK.

Dolphin is Open Source code, so there shouldn't be any cripple code in it.

It does. Most software with a licensing system does.

This message usually occurs when the __boonex_footers__ tag is manually removed from the template.

It can also occur if the cache is damaged and the __boonex_footers__ tag cannot be read from the damaged cache.

There are also other causes, but i am not sure what triggers them. I am not very familiar with how it works.

It can also occur if the cache is damaged...

Seems most weird things dolphin does can be traced back to some kinda cache issue

I just set a cronjob to delete my cache files ever 2 hours - corrected most issues

It is not a cache issue.  It is probably related to the footer even though the footers are still in place.  Boonex switched from the footer to using the bug for unlicensed sites.  The problem is that the cripple code is encrypted so I can not look at it to see what the problem may be.

I don't like the idea of cripple code that can take a licensed site down like this; it is bad for business Boonex.

My registered licensed site is still down; not good Boonex

As I look into fixing this issue what I have discovered is that Dolphin ignores the fact that the site is licensed; all it cares about is that bloody footer key.  This needs to be corrected  by Boonex.  If the site is licensed then the footer key is irrelevant.

The code check should be along the lines of:

If ! footer_key check_license();

If license everything is good to go;

Of course a license check could be conducted before the footer key check and just go from there.  Oh, the site has a license, we don't need to worry about the bloody footer key.
