Does a Dolphin Site Pull info from Boonex.com?

I know if you have the Boonex Newsfeeds activated it would, but is there anything else that a Dolphin site pulls from Boonex.com? Such as verification the license is valid, Footer information, or anything else?

I am talking everytime a page loads, not on install or in the admin section (I know Boonex News Loads by default)

I am only asking because it seemed like my site got even slower last week when Boonex was down for days, and may be an overall reason for the speed problem with Dolphin sites in general if they have to check license info every time it loads, or any thing else.

I have newsfeeds disabled on the front end, and have tried all the speed-up recommendations and am still have a slow site. It is ridiculous to have a social networking site that slows to a crawl when just 3 people are logged in.

Thanks,

Cory

License verification and unity market feeds, which can be removed by editing ./inc/admin_design.inc.php.

Dolphin also contacts the BoonEx servers for information such a licensing, version information (for example, of a newer version is available) and various other data feeds (such as news, market, languages). During the recent attack on the BoonEx server which caused several days of repeated downtime, slow-downs and other issues did occur, as a result of various call-backs to the BoonEx servers (which, when down, means instead of immediately getting the information needed, the script will keep calling for a few minutes, then give up).

BoonEx will be releasing Dolphin 7.0.2, which will also fix the problems with these call-backs.

I hope so. It's a serious security risk, if you know what I mean.

I'm afraid that I don't.

License verification and unity market feeds, which can be removed by editing ./inc/admin_design.inc.php.

You can remove the license verification in admin_design.inc.php?

Thanks.

I was referring to unity market ad feeds, but it's also true that the same file also controls license verification.

However, I am not going to discuss further details about this.

If you have purchased a permanent license, you are allowed to null the script, as Andrew Boon has stated in his blog. All you need to do is decode the Base64-encoded areas of the proper file and remove the entry where it calls for verification.

It should be noted that if you do this without purchasing a permanent license, an angry man from Kyrgyzstan will come to kick your ass.
