Dolphin 7.0 will sign up users but will not show profile at all 404 -

Hello Guys,

Testing the waters here to be honest,

I have installed IIS, PHP and MySQL on my Windows 7 Ultimate computer, all goes fine and Dolphin is setup,

I go to join, enter all the details ... then sign up ...

But when I click on the profile name ... it comes back as

404 - File or Directory not found.

I go in my inetpub directory ... and there is nothing created... with the profile's name.

Where is the problem I have made many google searches with no luck.

I am really interested in the website to buy it ... but cannot go ahead to buy something with out having a successful beta run for a while.

Cheers

V

being that you are running on IIS windows 7, you are missing a few elements that would be required to successfully launch even a beta environment. not because dolphin cant work, but in most cases  you would lack the skill set to accomplish this.

your issue is mod_rewrite and permalinks, there is nothing wrong with dolphin and there is nothing wrong with your home-server attempt. there is more to launching dolphin than launching IIS and thinking you have a server.

get yourself a $4.00 account from arvixe, he has the auto-installer, install dolphin tinker with it, then when you get ready to buy, and need real hosting, google Dolphin VPS Hosting or Dolphin Dedicated Hosting.

read the developers server requirements for dolphin.

depends on where you got your hosting from, as to whether or not its compatible with dolphin. not all hosts are compatible, and if you are trying to use some host that does not support the dolphin server configuration requirements, you are going to see additional issues.

most of the hosts who are dolphin compatible, have softaculous, and that has an auto-installer. though i recommend that the first 10 or 15 times, you install dolphin manually, so you understand the process, but to test drive dolphin, using the auto-installer would be an ok option.

I used Arvixe as suggested, I must admit I am really pleased with thei interface and options for such a small amount of money.

I used Softacoulous to install Dolphin,

I only have one problem now ... it does not seem to have the ability to add pictures on the profile .. even if you select it on the profile creation.

by default you do not add photos. you would need to login tot he account and go to Photos and then to Albums. there is a default album, though you can create other albums. you upload photos to the album on the profile.
