Dolphin 7.8 reinstall with existing database

I would like to reinstall the latest version but keep my existing data. What is the best way to go about it?

I do not believe my upgrade worked properly when i did it. The site function but the wall reply does not work. It forces the user in to post a video comment mode.

well in this case, it would be best to revert to a backup prior to the upgrade attempt.

given that  you did backup prior to running the backup?

other than that, there is no easy peasy route to fixing what you have inadvertently been dealt.

would it be possible to just move the data to a new installation? 1. back up the profile table

2. copy the data from the various directories(photo, wall, etc..)

3. Import the profiles

4. use the new installation as the live site

or 1. back up profile table

2. back up the data from photo, wall, etc...

3. back up the configuration file in (inc/header ) i think

4 decompress the full dolphin package overwriting the existing code base but do not run the install

5. import the profiles

6. copy the data back to the appropriate folders

7. remove the install directory

8. bring up the site/

Do these steps seem like a reasonable solution?

Thanks to DosDawg my problem was resolved. Following his advice I created a copy of the database

and pointed the installation to it. This help me determine if it was a file system problem or a database problem. It is a file system problem.

To correct it i did the following:

1. Back up the database (structure and Content).

2. Back up the existing installation file system.

3. Based on a post by Deano I copied the video, photos and avatars. I compressed them and put then in a separate directory.

4. copied my template to another directory

5. reinstalled a dolphin

6. changed the database to  point to the original

7. copied the photos, videos and avatars back to the original location

8. reinstalled any modules that were needed that were not part of the default installation

9. Copied the template back to the original location

10. Made a back up of everything.

My thanks again to DosDawg. He spent a lot of time with me discussing my options.
