Dolphin 7 Tutorial: My First Module

What a F*c*ing joke!

I tried using http://www.boonex.com/trac/dolphin/wiki/DolphinTutorialMyFirstModule to make a module, and nothing works as it should.

You can't even install the demo module. I keep getting Database query errors

i had the same problem but after reading the instructions more then 10times i got my mod working :)

LOL. Bet they did not test it first.

what got me confused was that i uploaded the mod to modules/bonnex/NEWmod instead to /modules/NEWmod

The directory layout for the modules should be as so.

modules/vendor/moduledirectory.


So. Boonex modules go here.

modules/boonex/

My modules are in this directory.

modules/deano/

At least that is how it is suppose to be.



EDIT: Wow. I just found a bug here.

Go to one of your posts and click the edit link a half dozen times.  LOL.

i figured that out after reading it 10 times if not more
reading it was the easy part understanding what i read that's the hard part lol

should i click on submit on all of them hehehe

Please specify the exact DB error you get.

LOL that's great, 24 open edits at a time!

Edit: and now it tells me to enter characters from 5 to 128000 symbols when I clearly have more than 5

Thanks guys.

After I took a break from it, and checked email I found the issue.

As far as the on screen error at the time, it just said "Database query error"

In my email, I found this:

Database error in

Query:
INSERT INTO `sys_localization_keys`(`IDCategory`, `Key`) VALUES('36', '_me_blgg')
Mysql error: Duplicate entry '_me_blgg' for key 2

Found error in the file '/var/www/dolphin/inc/classes/BxDolInstaller.php' at line 646.
Called 'db_res' function with erroneous argument #0.

I was able to force an uninstall and clean everything up.

Just got to remember to check the email for the error report. And pray to a higher power there is one...
