Dolphin 7 Update Issue: Someone PLEASE Help!

I updated Dolphin from 6 to Dolphin 7.

I placed the files in there then deleted the /install directory as asked, and when that was gone, I came across an error that said:

Fatal error: Call to a member function setErrorChecking() on a non-object in /home4/sike/public_html/Dolphin/inc/db.inc.php on line 42.

Could anyone please help me resolve this issue?

Question: how did you upgrade? I mean, did you just over-write the directory, or did you run the migration module?

I overwrote the directory, I dragged everything in the Dolphin 7 folder onto my FTP.

Wait, just to be certain: you over-wrote your Dolphin 6.1 installation with the files from Dolphin 7?

You messed up big time.

You need to set a back-up of the site back in and make sure the perms are correct for D6.

Next, set D7 in via FTP into a sub-directory of the D6 site.

Run your D7 Install

Do the migration

Then dump all the D6 files after you have the migration completed and working.

If you want the D7 install in the root directory then move them and adjust the proper files.

If you try to just overwrite D6 with D7 you'll get what you have.  A big mess.

I'm also willing to bet you tried to use the same DB information meaning DB Name, Username & password on D7 that your using on D6.

Ok so when you say back up do you mean just the databases or what?

And thanks for your help as well Magnussoft, if you still have info please share some.

Thanks.

You know, I was hoping he would say "Sorry! I meant a sub-directory!", but I think he actually went and tried to physically upgrade it.

OP: Pray to Whoever the Hell You Pray To (WHYPT) that you have a back-up of both your web site files and database. Otherwise, you are completely ruined on this front.

And thanks for your help as well Magnussoft, if you still have info please share some.

If you can, restore your Dolphin 6.1 web site to its original state before the "upgrade." Then, follow mydatery's post (note that to migrate your data, you must be on Dolphin 6.1.6).

Ok and when installing D7 there are Media Server and ffmpeg.exe downloads, do you need those as well or no?

And if so, where would I put the Media Server files?

The extra ffmpeg.exe file is for Windows-based web servers. If you are hosted on a Linux web server, then you need not worry. The Media Server allows the audio and video communication and use of the video comments feature, along with the use of the whiteboard feature. It is not needed, unless you want these features enabled on your community. To use the Media Server, you must be on a VPS or dedicated web hosting platform.

Yes, I want to add audio and video, so where would I drag that folder?

You would download the Media Server package supported by your web server (I would assume you are running on Linux) and would install it using this tutorial: http://www.boonex.net/ray/wiki/RayServerInstall

Sounds like a plan to me. I appreciate your full support Magnussoft and mydatery!

Thanks,
