Dolphin 7 features

Hello everyone, I am considering Dolphin to create a community and it seems the most complete.

But I still have some doubts that I hope you can clarify.

The target of this community is a school. Users may be of different kind: students, teachers, other school staff, etc..

Each user, depending on the role, can create only a particoular kind of groups (Ex. Students: study group, theater workshop, etc. - Teachers: other groups...) and could be the admin and may choose to allow other users to become co-admin, contribuors or simple participants.

Another key point of the community is the possibility for any group to create and organize a calendar of events which everyone (groups or single users) can access.

Each group and each event should have its own "mini site" which can be customized. The possibility of add, if necessary, sharing files, videos,
Forum area, blogs, news, rss is also required.

Dolphin 7 support all this features?

Tanks in advance

Try out the boonex demo site and you can see how groups work.  I think it will cover msot of your requirements.

The url is boonex.us

I tested the demo you pointed me at.

I have some questions:

- can I create some "mini site" each one with different graphics with access to the main community DB and let users to join the "mini site" (related to a group)?

- Is there some advanced module for setting up events? I need to have events in which students can upload docs, photo, maps, desciptions and so on and, after the event, post comments on it

- Can the admin/moderator of each minisite send email to the user subscribed to that group? Is there some advanced email analytics module?

Thanks in advance,

Brago

Well this is an old thread but I hate seeing interesting questions going unanswered :P

Sounds like you would need to extend both Events and Groups built in features.
There are some mods such as http://www.boonex.com/unity/extensions/entry/Scheduler_for_Groups_module
that might help - but you are asking for quite a few different functionalities that are not built in.

Im sure a programmer could do everything you ask for a few hundred dollars - but beware of tying yourself to a modified installation that cant easilly be upgraded anymore.

The most serious question would be separating each Group into its own mini site -
thats a pretty big ask...

I am looking at repurposing the Groups and Events to serve as a way of listing projects and coordinating teams.

I would say unless you have a php programmer as part of the team the only cheap solution is to work within the built in features plus whatever the best mods available in the market place will do for you. At least the mod maker may give some support or be willing to do customisation for you at a reasonable price.

Below is the legacy version of the Boonex site, maintained for Dolphin.Pro 7.x support.
The new Dolphin solution is powered by UNA Community Management System.
