Dolphin 7 on a Hostgator Shared reseller server, can we ?

One of our server accounts is shared re-seller hosting server on Hostgator.

Off hand does anyone know if Dolphin 7 and soon to be 8 will run fully optioned or do we need to put it on our dedicated manager server ? I really don't want to run three installs (communities) on the same server. Given a choice we would love to spread it out.

So, can we do it on the shared server ?

Did not see that obvious I should have found that link.

Thank you I'll check my server and talk to Hostgator.

I'm currently evaluating Boonex on my Hostgator account, with a couple dozen test users using it, with no issues so far.  YMMV, of course.

The reply from Hostgator

Thank you for contacting HostGator. I'm more than happy to answer your questions. Unfortunately due to the additional configuration required for Dolphin 7+, it requires a VPS or dedicated server to run properly. Older versions of Dolphin may function on your current Reseller account, but would not include all the proper video and audio codecs.

Due to the memory usage and resource requirements that fully functional Dolphin installations, including the Ray Media Server, require, at least in our experience, we'd recommend only installing Dolphin on a Level 5 or higher VPS, as lower level VPS containers may not provide you with a stable environment.
Our VPS plans are available here: http://www.hostgator.com/vps-hosting/

Any dedicated server would do the trick though, as there's much more power behind even our Basic dedicated server. You can find our dedicated server plans available here: http://www.hostgator.com/dedicated.shtml

A bit more information on Dolphin's compatibility with our servers can be found here: http://support.hostgator.com/articles/hosting-guide/hardware-software/can-i-use-boonex-software-ray-dolphin-orca

Once you've gotten a server with the proper resources and permissions, Dolphin should be fully compatible with the server as-is, as our VPS and dedicated servers meet the requirements listed on http://www.boonex.com/trac/dolphin/wiki/DolTech without issue.
Additionally once you have the server purchased and online, we can install Dolphin for you for a $55 installation fee, though you are of course more than welcome to install this on your own.

Please let us know if any of the above requires clarification, or you have any further questions or concerns.

Best regards,

RMS would require a VPS or dedicated, of course, but as long as ffmpeg.exe is allowed to execute, there shouldn't be a problem for Dolphin (for some reason, some hosting providers think Dolphin requires FFmpeg to be installed on the server, but this isn't the case).  But if this is all on shared, the resource use of Dolphin can exceed their resource limits, leading to suspensions all around.

Below is the legacy version of the Boonex site, maintained for Dolphin.Pro 7.x support.
The new Dolphin solution is powered by UNA Community Management System.
