They've made it really, really clear that you are NOT supposed to have been using any of these with a live site.  If you ignored that advice and did so anyway it's your mistake and your fault that you lost 500 members.  Perhaps you should have listened to their advice.

I'd rather have a lot of Betas so that when you're actually SUPPOSED to use the software it works than not have them and launch a live site with a lot of bugs.

It seems like all you do is complain.  Why not just sit back and relax for a bit and let them do their job.  They'll tell you when the version you're supposed  to let your membership use is ready.  If you use it before that point then you really have no leg to stand on when you're bitching aobut user complaints.

UFO - I don't think Vagabondette is "talking crap" - I think she is trying to give you honest advice.  I did read your post and I don't get it.  When you say you "lost 500 members" are you saying you actually had 500 members on your site but having to upgrade to another beta caused you to lose them, or are you saying you think you could have had 500 members if there hadn't been so many betas.  Either way, I think you are wrong, but believe it or not people are tying to help you here.

UPDATE:  I posted this before I read your post above.  Could I see the link where you have the 500 members?

You shouldn't have any members on a Beta site (except for a few testers).  That's why it's a Beta.  When they say a Beta is ready it doens't mean the script is ready to use on a live site.  It means the latest batch of problems should be fixed and it needs to be tested some more.

And yes, sorry but to me it seems like all you do is complain about the script.

there is a big difference between stable version and STEP TO A STABLE VERSION
Sure u can use it for a live site but you are on your own.......
don't blame anyone for your mistakes or leak of knowledge when it's time to fix things up :)

Thanks Caltrade.  I read it as that he had 500 members leave his site because of the bugs in the Beta.  Perhaps I read it wrong, but if that's the case then I stand by my original post.

leak of knowledge again you should have saved your sql user tables profiles however you wanna call it
and then just add them to the new installation that way you go from one beta to the other without loosing 500 user

UFO - prozalink is right.  Learn how to use the Dolphin backup/restore system inside and out - it is actually quite good.  It was obviously risky anyway to launch a live site on a beta anyway, but that could have saved some of your work and member profiles.  You can also install your live version in one subdirectory, and then install your test version in another subdirectory - but even if you back up everything, this will still be risky with a beta.   The good news is that if you really got 500 members that quickly you must be doing something right - and you know there is a completely stable version out there - Dolphin 6.1.6.    Good luck.
