Dolphin Lisence

How can I know with the Lisence Id - what kind of lisence is that? (for a mony, year, etc.)

The hosting company purchased it for me and I do not know.

Under Unity Home, Click My Licenses, Look where it says "Dolphin" and it will tell you the type you have. If it is under "Dolphin Free" then an "ad-free" license was not purchased.

Thanks, but the problem is:

A hosting company purchased the software, I have only the Lisence Number, but do not know what kind it is.

The main issue - some basic features are even not installed for some reason - the Ray Suite.

How can it be? Could it be because the company purchased the FREE version of Dolphin?

And is it possible to install the ray suite at this point?

If you can help - I'd appreciate that a lot.

if the license does not belong to you, meaning if you are not listed as the purchaser, and the purchaser has not written in to transfer that license number to you as the owner, then you could be pretty well stuck.

you can write to Lyubov and ask what the license type is and ask if its free or adfree, and she may be able to provide that information.

a license once assigned to a domain is bound to that domain, so if you didnt see the boonex footers, then the license could very well be adfree, on the other hand, the footers could have been stripped without permissions and  you would need to obtain that information from the one who purchased the license, or from Lyubov, if she is able to release such information.

To continue with your questions:

1.  What dolphin version are you running?  6 or 7?  While it makes no difference in the license, it does make a difference as far as Ray goes.

2.  Regardless of whether your running 6 or 7, free or ad-free, your ray suite should be installed (it's one giant zip package that uploads all at once)

3.  If it's D6, just go into the Admin Panel then go to Plug Ins -> Ray Suite and click on each item that is not enabled to enable it.  If things still don't work (such as video in Chat or Boards don't work at all) then you don't have an RMS.  If your on a shared server you have to lease it, if your on a VPS or Dedicated (sounds more like a shared server) then you can install your own RMS.  Either way, it has to have it for the items to work fully.

As far as getting info on the license goes, if it's registered to the host (meaning under their Unity Account) there may be issues concerning the privacy of disclosing information in regards to it.

Curious:  Who is the host that purchased the license as part of your hosting package?  To me this alone has issues in that if you leave that host your license will be gone, just an example.

Guys, thank you for your reply, I really appreciate that.

Now to make it more clear:

The hosting company is Heritage Web Solutions, at the moment we disconected from them because they did not stand behind their promises. They released the domain, and everything else, but we don't have a clue of what kinf of lisence we have. I think it's a free one and we paid $1500.00 for their services. All that is behind, I just wnat to know why the ray suite is not installed AT ALL.

When I go to Admin Panel then go to Plug Ins -> Ray Suite a window opens, completely blank and in the middle it says Not Installed.

The version is Dolphin 6.1.4, if it helps you with your answer.

Who is Lyubov? How do I reach her?

Thanks again,

Zev.

Definitely sounds like an installation/permissions error possibly. And by the way, you can contact LyubovL here:

Your on D6.1.4?  How much work have you done to this?  IE Custom Modifications, uploading of media and so on?  If not alot, I would recommend that you just dump the complete install, that would be the files and the DB and just go straight to D6.1.6.  That's the most up to date version of Dolphin in a stable environment.  D7 is getting there, but not stable as of yet.

If your not in a super hurry and have the ability to learn new things then you should consider installing the D7RC3 (it's not fully stable yet) but it has a ton of extra options that D6.1.6 does not have and it will be getting upgrade paths with all updates that Boonex releases.

But that 6.1.4 has security issues that Boonex fixed with 2 upgrades and you'd find it quicker & easier to just go straight to D6.1.6 than to try to do the 2 upgrades if you don't have a ton of add ons.

As far as the license goes, you can tell if it's Free or Paid by looking at your site.  Do you have Ads (Boonex Ads) at the bottom of your page?  If you do then it's a free license, if you don't then it's a Paid Licenses.  That's the only difference.

As far as your host charging you $1500 for a copy of Dolphin, that's a pretty good con.  Especially if it's just a base install and things aren't even working.

Since it sounds like your files aren't even uploaded/installed for Ray Widgets, would be another reason to just dump that current install and instead get the 6.1.6 or D7 in there.

I have seen the not install message on the ray module before. Open the following file on the server.

ray\modules\global\xml\main.xml

See if that file is empty.

If so, that that is the reason. I have seen this before. But check the contents of that file, and report back.
