Dolphin OOB Modules

Hello folks,

I've just downloaded (two days ago) and installed the latest version of Dolphin.  I used it earlier last decade for a short while, so what I have before me is quite a bit different.  I'm wondering if anyone knows of a location where I can find an explanation of each individual Dolphin module and what features it provides members and non-members.  I've googled and searched here in the forums, but I can't seem to find anything that explains what each does.  "Wall", "Videos", "Blogs"... those are self-explanitory, but what is the purpose of "Spy" or "Shoutbox" or "Sites"?

Of course, I've added all of the modules to my site so that I can play around and figure it out, but I'd much rather save time by reading a description and deciding if it's something I want to include.  To be clear, I'm not asking anyone here to type up a list in a reply; a link to a page would be very helpful and appreciated.

Cheers,

-Daniel

I'm not aware of a complete list.

  • Spy: Displays a feed of all activities performed on the site (e.g., profile views, uploaded content, etc.).
  • Shoutbox: Allows members (and guests) to talk to each-other via a small chat box on the site's homepage.
  • Sites: Allows members to post sites, which includes a link, description, and thumbnail (which should generate automatically).  It's like the old links page for Dolphin 6.1.

Nathan,

Thank you for the quick reply.

Those three were just examples, but thanks for the explanation... that was helpful.  I find it odd that such a mature software package has so little in regards to documentation.  The installation instructions were very complete and, for me, left nothing to be desired.  Maybe once I become more familiar with it, I'll write up a page which explains the Modules.

Not today though!  :)

Thank you again, sir!  Enjoy your weekend.
