I've been looking through some of the dolphin plugins on expertzzz.com, and most of them do not allow you to post comments unless you buy the product. WTF? If I can't even get a plugin demo to work, I'd like to be able to comment about it. Other plugin authors want me to give them admin acces to my server???? Double WTF! Do these clowns really believe people are stupid enough to allow some complete stranger access to their server and databases? This is bullshit and I can't understand why expertzz.com would even allow plugins to be marketed in this way. If I buy something, I own it, and I want to know exactly how the files and databases on my site are being modified. I don't want anyone else that I don't know anything about, fumbling around on MY server. I've even seen posts on this site about templates that were purchased having links to porn sites, and that, in a word is disgusting.
Dolphin seems to be a very promising community software solution. The plugins, modifications, and templates, peddled by persons unknown, are out of control. They are all overpriced for one thing... $40 for that game pluging that I couldn't even get the demo to work??? There needs to be some sort of quality control in place, but i don't see that happening any time soon.
The best thing I can think of is a thread such as this one, where people can share their experiences with Dolphin plugins and their developers. If you purchased a plugin, mod, template, or anything else for dolphin, take a few minutes of your time to tell others about it. Others knowing whether you had a positive or negative experience will be a step in the right direction toward more confident purchasing decisions by everyone. Thanks in advance to anyone that writes a review about a third party dolphin product.
