Dolphin as a big "trash can"??

Hi,

several times addressed in this forums, when a user deletes an account, it would be nice to know. There is no core function in Dolphin to do that, but luckily there is a fine working mod in the market.

The issue till now was that if the deleted account had made comments to profiles/photos of another user, and thoses comments had answers to it, the deletion of the account would not delete the comments made. Worse, they would stick as belonging to an "anonymous" user, and would"steal" the avatar of any other active user viewing those specific comments. To prevent us from the claims of angry users, the deletion of these contents from the DB had to be done manually.

Now, we have a bigger issue: photos, sounds and videos are also not deleted, which makes it look that Dolphin is a big trash can. No biggie, till you get the deleted user coming back and looking for it's older photos and, ohhh, they are there, but trying to see the album generated a 500 internal server error and forced the server to re-initiate itself!!

Dolphin generates by defaul, for each new member, a photo album. When a deleted member comes back, there will be 2 photo albuns in the DB with the same name, which I believe is causing the hick up.

Any soluitions out there? Cleaning manually the DBcan not be the only answer...

Regards

My site too has this annoying problem. This is nothing new, medias are not deleted since earliest D7 versions...

That happens not only when deleting any profile, but also when deleting a media from Admin panel (checked dozens of times with photos).

I have reported this error a few times and LeonidS answered that he was unable to reproduce the problem...

So I have to agree and confirm that Dolphin medias folders are very big "trash cans".

They can't reproduce the problem?? Seriously? All they have to do is load some photos and media, then delete the account, then log in as Admin and look for these files. They will be showing in Admin as "from": with no user name attached...

Same if you look into photos counter in the photos menu, and then look into photos counter in Admin Panel, they will be showing discrepancies in the numbers.

I will gladly give them access to my site if they want to check this themselves!

The "trash can" was up till now just anoying, but when it causes a 500 server internal error, than it becomes much more than that!

i can reproduce this problem too ...

Great, 3 people now...

I would like to ask the community for a simple reply: can you reproduce this? It s easy, just check the number of photos in your site and then in Photos Mod in your Admin area.

Thanks in advance to all.

No. I cannot reproduce it.

I can create an account. Upload a bunch of photos to it, and when i delete the account, the photos, and albums are removed. They are also deleted from the hard drive.

They do not show up in admin. Cannot find a trace of them.

So i cannot reproduce the problem.

So, i have a couple of questions.

1) Do you require photos be approved by admin?
(This could still mean a problem with dolphin, but only under this condition)

2) Have you ever moved your site to a different server, or folder or restored from backup?
(This could indicate the pre-existing photos do not have needed permissions to delete them)

Medias are set to auto-activation.

Never moved my site to another server.

Tested/checked with hundred's of photos. Pictures uploaded with both previous and recent Dolphin versions. Deleted photos don't appear in Admin panel but are stil in the folder modules/boonex/photos/data/files... I already manually deleted several Go of unwanted pictures...

Answers:

1) Do you require photos be approved by admin? No, we do not, only profiles are manually approved by moderation.

2) Have you ever moved your site to a different server, or folder or restored backup? Yes, moved server about 1 year ago, but is affecting photos with less than a year, so created whyle in the new server.

Ok, so 17 days ago I deleted a member that was offering "paid services" (not allowed in site), and I clearly see her photos in Admin Panel, so re-inforcing Deanos'question, we still have this issue with recently deleted members, no changes in server.
